BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the fourth week of the 2016 cross country season. Northern Michigan junior Kameron Burmeister captured GLIAC Athlete of the Week honors on the women's side, while Northwood senior Tyler Jensen garnered the men's weekly award.
WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Kameron Burmeister, Northern Michigan
Junior Kameron Burmeister led Northern Michigan to its third-straight top-three finish at the Roy Griak Invitational by placing sixth with a time of 23:03.6. It was the first time Burmeister cracked the top 10 at this prestigious meet; she finished 11th in both 2014 (22:47) and 2015 (23:08.8).
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Tyler Jensen, Northwood
Northwood senior Tyler Jensen placed eighth overall with a season-best time of 26:59.9 on the 8K course at the Grand Rapids Community College Raider Invitational. The senior has now led Northwood in each of their two events this season. Jenson was the top Division II finisher at the event.
