BAY CITY, Mich. - Walsh University redshirt freshman forward Lea Jalbert (Repentigny, Quebec, Canada) and Ashland University senior goal keeper Rebecca Plescia (Parma, Ohio/Padua) earned GLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive "Athlete of the Week" awards, respectively.
GLIAC Women's Soccer "Offensive Athlete of the Week":
Lea Jalbert (RFr./FWD) - Walsh
Repentigny, Quebec, Canada
In her first collegiate game, Lea Jalbert scored her first goal on a breakaway just over six minutes into the game against St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) to give Walsh a 1-0 lead. She then put the game out of reach with two more goals in the 68th and 72nd minutes to set up the final 4-0 score. On Sunday, Walsh and West Virginia Wesleyan appeared to be destined for overtime tied at 0-0 before Jalbert scored in the 79th minute. She was credited with the game winning goals in both games.

GLIAC Women's Soccer "Defensive Athlete of the Week":
Rebecca Plescia (Sr./GK) - Ashland
Ashland University senior goal keeper Rebecca Plescia posted a pair of shutouts last week to help the Eagles open the season with a 1-0-1 record. She had nine saves in AU's 1-0 win at Indianapolis. In that game, she made two acrobatic saves in the final minutes to preserve the victory. Sunday she had five saves in Ashland's scoreless tie with Quincy. That match went to double overtime. Quincy is the favorite to win the GLVC championship.
