AUSTIN, Texas – Eight Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) cross country and track and field student-athletes earned 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II recognition on Wednesday (June 24), as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Ethan Barnes, a senior integrated sciences major from Grand Valley State University with a 3.88 G.P.A., received the NCAA Elite 89 Award at this year's NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships. He earned All-America honors at the national championship event, finishing third in the 800 meters.
Alan Peterson, a graduate student with a 3.71 G.P.A. in the college student affairs leadership program at Grand Valley State University, earned All-America honors with a ninth place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country National Championship.
Andrew Trusty, a senior exercise science major at Malone, placed 10th overall (30:55.7) at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship Meet to join Roush on the All-America Team. Trusty is a seven-time member of the GLIAC Academic Excellence Team and finished runner-up in the 5000 meters at the GLIAC Outdoor Championships.
Ryan Roush, a junior exercise science major at Malone, earned All-American recognition in the fall after placing 16th (31:06.4) at the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships. A five-time GLIAC Academic Excellence Team honoree, Roush also finished third in the 3000 meters (8:22.36) at the GLIAC Indoor Championships and was the runner-up in the 10,000 meters (31:03.47) at the conference's outdoor championships.
Laura Schroeder, a senior biomedical sciences major at GVSU, who carries a 3.81 grade point average as a Biomedical Sciences major, was twice an All-American in 2015 for the women's indoor and outdoor track & field team. The Sanford, Mich. native placed eighth in the weight throw at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships, and placed second in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Schroeder also placed first in the hammer throw at the 2015 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Jani Lane, a junior mechanical engineering major at Michigan Technological University, earned the NCAA Elite 89 Award given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 sports. Lane ran a 3:46.64 in the 1,500 during the regular season and qualified for the NCAA Championships with the 10th-fastest seed time.
Kim Habegger is a graduate student with a 3.79 GPA in Ashland's Online MBA program. During the 2014-15 indoor/outdoor track and field season, Habegger, in addition to her fourth-place finish in the hammer on May 21, placed second in the event at the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outdoor meet and second in the weight throw at the 2015 GLIAC indoor meet.
Scott Whitaker, a senior communications arts major with a 3.86 G.P.A. at Malone University, is an eight-time member of the GLIAC Academic Excellence team. He helped Malone to a ninth-place finish at the 2014 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championship and he was a 2014 outdoor national qualifier in the 1,500 meters.
