Findlay's Cade and Grand Valley State's Medo Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," Respectively for January 17-19

BAY CITY, Mich. - University of Findlay junior Molly Cade (Ft. Wayne, Ind./R. Nelson Snider) and Grand Valley State University junior Milan Medo (Bratislava, Slovakia/St. Vincent De Paul) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts for the weekend of January 17-19.

GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Molly Cade - University of Findlay
Junior  - Ft. Wayne, Ind./R. Nelson Snider

University of Findlay junior Molly Cade came away with a pair of third place finishes in the Oilers cyber meet against Grand Valley State on January 25 in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.37) and 100-yard butterfly (59.74).  She also teamed with sophomore Jessica Ward, freshman Emily Annen and sophomore Kaley Holmstrom to take fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.21.

 

 

 

 

  

GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Milan Medo - Grand Valley State University
Junior - Bratislava, Slovakia/St. Vincent De Paul 

Grand Valley State junior Milan Medo recorded a first-place finish and a pair of seconds individually, while also notching a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay versus Indianapolis. Grand Valley State  will now prepare for the 2014 GLIAC Championships to be held in Geneva, Ohio February 12-15. Medo recorded a first-place finish in the 100-yard fly (50.11), while finishing second in the 100-yard breast (57.49) and 100 free (46.69). Medo also was a part of the Lakers' 400-yard medley  relay team that touched second. Medo currently has NCAA "B" cut times in the 50-yard free (20.52), 100-yard free (45.37), 100-yard breast (56.10), 100-yard fly (49.37) and 200-yard fly (1:49.31). In addition, Medo is a part of three relays that have qualified for the NCAA Championships.
