GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following the second week of the 2018 men's soccer season. Purdue Northwest sophomore forward Enrique Serna earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley senior defender Omar Sinclair claimed GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Enrique Serna - Purdue Northwest
Purdue Northwest sophomore forward Enrique Serna was the main force for the PNW offense this week scoring two goals (one in each match) including a 2-1 road victory at Quincy and the lone goal in a 1-1 draw vs. Illinois-Springfield. Serna created chances for the Pride, recording eight shots (six on target) in two matches while averaging three shots on goal and a .750 shots on goal percentage.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Omar Sinclair - Saginaw Valley
Saginaw Valley senior defender Omar Sinclair was stellar on the back line in a pair of matches this past weekend for the Cardinals. Sinclair led a defense that allowed zero goals and upped its shutout tally on the season to three. SVSU allowed only a pair of shots on goal for the weekend and has only allowed four this season in as many contests.
