GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly baseball awards following week nine of the 2018 campaign. Tiffin University redshirt junior catcher John Heckman earned GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Davenport junior Grant Wolfram captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK - John Heckman, Tiffin
Tiffin University catcher John Heckman had a week to remember, compiling a .667 batting average with 10 hits, four doubles, a home run, and 11 runs batted in. Heckman finished all four games this past week with at least two hits, including two games with three hits. The redshirt junior finished with six runs batted in against Malone in a non-conference game, and finished a three game set with Wayne State with seven hits and five runs batted in. John posted a .650 on base percentage and a 1.133 slugging percentage while also scoring seven runs..
PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Grant Wolfram, Davenport
Davenport junior Grant Wolfram tossed a complete-game and struck out 10 Timberwolves in a 6-1 win in the third game of the series. It was the second start in a row with 10-plus strikeouts for the left-hander. He picked up his third win of the season and is tied for third in the GLIAC with 50 strikeouts this season. He is 2-0 with 2.08 ERA and 21 strikeouts in April.
