2019 Davenport Preview

Davenport enters year two of competing in NCAA Division II and the GLIAC. The Panthers had some first-year struggles during the 2018 season, but are rejuvenated and ready for the 2019 lacrosse season. Davenport went 1-11 in conference play last year, with their lone GLIAC win coming against Northern Michigan by a score of 17-11. The Panthers had two student-athletes earn All-GLIAC Second Team honors, Maeve Sweeney and Ryann Deuel. Deuel will be one of the key upperclassmen returning for Davenport this season.

The Panthers return the majority of their offensive firepower. Davenport notched 173 goals as a team during the 2018 campaign and 157 of those goal scorers are returning. The Panthers return their top four goal scorers; Deuel had 46, Taylor Ries had 40, and Brenna Knoll and Aaliyah Miller each had 21.

The 2019 schedule is no cakewalk for the Panthers. Five of the teams on the schedule are preseason ranked in the top 25; including non-conference tilts against #25 Tiffin and #10 Florida Tech. Head Coach Rob Harris looks to bring his team back to the powerhouse it was when they were competing in the NAIA.
