HARTVILLE, Ohio – Bill Blazer, Ohio Dominican’s Athletic Director Emeritus, will be inducted into the Ohio Public Golf Association (OPGA) Hall of Fame today.
Blazer, who has served on the OPGA Board of Directors for the past 12 years, joins other notables in the Hall of Fame such as former Ohio governor James A. Rhodes and 1973 British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf. He is the 54th member to earn induction into the OPGA Hall of Fame.
“This is a very humbling experience for me,” Blazer said. “It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized like this for my involvement with the OPGA.”
Blazer, a native of London, Ohio, began his tenure as Ohio Dominican’s fifth Athletic Director in August, 2004 and moved into the emeritus role prior to the 2010-11 school year. Prior to his arrival at ODU, Blazer spent 14 years at Urbana University, where he served as Athletic Director, men’s golf coach (1994-2004) and a tenured Associate Professor in the Division of Business and Economics.
Today’s ceremony coincides with the final round of the Ohio Public Links Championship at Seven Hills Golf Course in Hartville.
