Junior middle blocker Danielle Alexander averaged 2.55 kills, 1.18 blocks, 1.09 assists, 0.73 digs, and 3.18 points as she helped GVSU tally a 3-0 record at home last week and remain the only undefeated team in the GLIAC North Division. She tallied 14 kills, five assists, four blocks and hit .333 as GVSU defeated Ferris State, 3-2. Alexander then recorded eight kills, six assists, five assisted blocks, while hitting .412 in a 3-0 sweep over Mercyhurst. Danielle ended the week by posting six kills and four assisted blocks as GVSU knocked off Gannon, 3-0, to extend its winning streak to 15 straight matches.

Junior middle hitter Kim Gear hit .337 and extended her streak of double-digit kill totals to five matches as the Warriors went 2-1 on the weekend. She had 14 kills, a season-high .414 attack percentage, and five blocks including two solo in Friday’s win over Michigan Tech. Gear totaled 14 kills and three blocks in a loss to Northern Michigan on Saturday and 13 kills with five blocks (two solo) in a win Sunday against Lake Superior State. She currently ranks sixth in the GLIAC with a 1.08 blocks/game average. Gear’s efforts have helped Wayne State rank second in the GLIAC in blocks per game with 2.77.
