Erica Vanderkopple - Grand Valley State

Senior middle blocker Erica Vandekopple guided Grand Valley State to a 3-0 start in GLIAC action over the weekend. She averaged 4.40 kills, 1.00 blocks, 0.50 digs, and a .389 hitting percentage. Erica began the weekend as she tallied 17 kills and three assisted blocks, while posting an outstanding .739 hitting percentage as GVSU swept Lake Superior State, 3-0. She then had 12 kills, an ace, and two solo and two assisted blocks in a 3-0 win against Michigan Tech. Erica ended the weekend with 15 kills, two aces, three digs, and three assisted blocks as GVSU recorded a 3-1 victory over Northern Michigan.

Junior setter Stephanie Booms helped guide Hillsdale College to a 2-0 weekend as it opened conference play. Booms averaged an incredible 14.25 assists per game as the Chargers handed Northwood its first loss of the season, and Saginaw Valley its third loss of the season. Booms came one assist shy of her career high, with 65 helpers in the team’s dramatic 3-2 win over Saginaw Valley Saturday. She averaged nearly 17 assists per game in a 3-0 sweep of Northwood Friday night, getting 49 in the three-game match. She also hit .600 in Friday’s match and had 16 digs Saturday against the Cardinals.
