Ashland University
Eagles
Ashland suffered a crushing defeat in the opening round of the Great Lakes Regional Volleyball tournament, dropping a five-game decision to Lewis University. AU won the first two games and led in both games three and four before falling to the Flyers, who advanced to the tournament finals. The Eagles were 0-3 in game-fives this season, with all three losses coming to nationally-ranked opponents (Hillsdale, Grand Valley State, Lewis). The 26 wins are tied for the fourth most wins in school history – Ashland also had a 26-6 record in 2004. Ashland loses two players to graduation – leaves AU with their names all over the record books. Glowe finished with school records in most kills (2,136), most attacks
(6,276), and digs (1,969) and was fourth in aces (212). She owns the top three (and four of the top five) single-season dig records, two of the top five single-season kill records, and two of the top five single-season attack records. Warren is the school’s all-time leader in assists (5,610) and is third in service aces (217). She is the owner of four of the top five single-season assist marks (including the top three) and the single-match record of 71 assists, which she did twice in 2004. In their four-year careers, Glowe and Warren lead AU to 98 victories, the second-best four-year stretch in program history. Their .754 winning percentage (98-32) is the best four-year run in Ashland history. Ironically, the Eagles went 26-6 in both their freshman and senior years and 23-10 in both their sophomore and junior years. AU advanced to the GLIAC and NCAA playoffs all four seasons with Glowe and Warren and advanced to the school’s first-ever Elite Eight in 2006, winning Ashland’s first-ever conference tournament and regional championships.
