For the first time in the program’s history, Ashland has three players who have reached double digits in wins in the same season. Senior Morgan Sanders (North Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) and sophomore Megan Stoll (Canton, OH/Jackson) are both 11-3 and freshman Corinne Pasley (Livonia, MI/Adaie Stevenson) is 10-3.

Bulldogs
The Ferris State University women’s tennis squad suffered a 9-0 setback to GLIAC leader Grand Valley State in league play Friday (Oct. 5) afternoon at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs fell to 1-5 both overall and in conference play this campaign with the loss while the first-place Lakers improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the GLIAC. The Lakers swept the singles competition, winning all five flights in straight-sets. Grand Valley also captured all three doubles matches, including an 8-1 triumph at the number one doubles position. Ferris State returns to action by visiting Saginaw Valley State Friday, Oct. 12, for a 2 p.m. (EDT) league match in University Center, Mich.

Oilers
The University of Findlay women’s tennis team picked up their first GLIAC win of the season on Saturday, Oct. 6 after defeating Lake Superior State University 6-3 at the Armstrong Complex. The win gives the Oilers a 5-6 record on the year with a 1-4 mark in the GLIAC... UF picked up wins at the No. 3, 4, 5, and 6 singles positions, while winning No. 2 and 3 doubles...Freshman Candace Pahl went 2-0 in singles play on the weekend, picking up the Oilers’ lone win against Michigan Tech.

Grand Valley State won its lone match of the week, defeating Ferris State 9-0…GVSU cruised in doubles, sweeping all three matches…The Lakers then won all six of their singles matches in straight sets…All three of the Laker freshman won their singles matches…GVSU remains perfect in the fall season with a 6-0 overall record and remain one of two undefeated teams in GLIAC play…Grand Valley State will play just one match this week at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10:00 a.m.

Senior Megan LaMothe (Troy, Mich.) finished 2-0 in GLIAC matches and 2-1 for the week, improving her No. 1 singles record to 5-3 overall and 5-2 in league play. She is 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the GLIAC when paired with sophomore Weronika Lomacka (Warsaw, Poland) at No. 1 doubles…LSSU added junior Rachel Hall (Southgate, Mich.) to its tennis roster. Hall is a member of the LSSU softball team. She was 1-2 at No. 6 singles during her first outing…Redshirt freshman Anais Molina (Lima, Peru) won her first match at No. 5 singles on Oct. 5 at Tiffin.

Lakers
Mercyhurst moved to 9-2 on the season after splitting a pair of matches this week…The Lakers beat Saginaw Valley State 5-1 in a rain-shortened match before losing to Northwood 9-0…Mercyhurst is now 6-2 in the conference, assuring itself of a better record than a year ago when the Lakers went 5-4…Freshman Kim Ezzo lost a singles match in dual match play for the first time this year when she was beaten by Northwood. She is now 10-1 in dual matches and 7-1 at No. 2 singles in conference play… Meghan Raynor has the team’s next best singles record, going 6-2 in conference at No. 4 singles and 9-3 overall … Raynor has also paired up with Jaclyn McLean to go 6-2 in the GLIAC at No. 2 doubles.

Huskies
The Huskies went 3-0 last week with road wins at Tiffin, Findlay, and Wayne State... In the 6-3 win at Tiffin, Amy Palmgren and Nicole Kirch paired together for an 8-4 win at number one doubles. Silvia Oliveros and Nathalia Rondelli cruised to an 8-2 victory at number two doubles. Samantha Jang-Stewart and Asel Otunchieva overcame being down a break to gain a 9-8 (4) triumph at number three doubles... In the 8-1 triumph at Findlay, Palmgren dominated her number one singles match en route to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Oliveros claimed a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at number two, while Jang-Stewart also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 at number four... MTU completed the weekend sweep of its three opponents by knocking off Wayne State, 6-3... Three Huskies were multiple winners on the day. Oliveros and freshman Nathalia Rondelli cruised to an 8-1 win at number two doubles. Oliveros then won her number two singles match, 6-0, 6-3. Rondelli had it just as easy with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at number six... Michigan Tech will have a weekend off before hosting Northwood on Friday, Oct. 19.

Timberwolves
The Timberwolves improved to 4-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Ashland Friday (Oct. 10)... Northwood opened the match by dropping just three games at the top-two doubles contests to lead 3-0 heading into singles. The Timberwolves then won all six singles matches in straight sets... NU completed its fifth straight sweep Saturday (Oct. 6), defeating Mercyhurst 9-0... For the season, NU remains perfect in team matches. The Timberwolves are now 30-0 in singles and 15-0 in doubles. NU has not dropped a set in any of their 30 singles contests.

The Cardinals dropped both their matches this weekend against Mercyhurst and Ashland to drop to 2-4 overall, and 1-4 in GLIAC competition...freshman Cortney Heileman (East China, Mich./St. Clair) notched the only point for SVSU in Saturday’s loss to Ashland with a win in three singles...freshman Kathleen Farah (Flushing, Mich.) and senior Megan Major (Bay City, Mich.) picked up a point for the Cards at No. 3 doubles against Mercyhurs.

WSU snapped its three-match slide defeating Lake Superior State, 6-3, at the WSU Tennis Courts on Friday... WSU jumped out to an early led taking two of three doubles matches. LSSU responded with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots but WSU rolled with four consecutive victories at the No. 3 through No. 6 positions to seal the victory... WSU fell short going for its second consecutive conference win with a 6-3 set back to Michigan Tech at the WSU Tennis Courts on Saturday... freshmen Sharon Gill (Windsor, Ont./Academie Ste. Cecile) won at the No. 1 singles position while freshman Deby Correa (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Padre Eustaquio) won at No. 5 spot.
