Senior outfielder Sarah Holland has helped the No. 7 Lakers to a 15-6 mark to open the 2008 campaign. She leads GVSU in most offensive categories, including hits (28), doubles (9) and triples (4), slugging percentage (.686), and on-base percentage (.462). Her slugging percentage is helped by her team-best 14 extra-base hits while her on-base percentage is boosted by her team-high nine walks. Sarah has also hit one home run and tallied a team-high 17 runs-batted-in. Her batting average of .398 is in the top three of the team..
Molly Yetman - Wayne State
(Sr, RHP, Cambridge, Ontario/Glenview Park)
Yetman was named NFCA Division II Player of the Week after pitching two complete-game shutouts. In a 4-0 win over Shippensburg (Pa.), she struck out 14 and allowed just three walks with no hits for the seven-inning victory. It was the fourth no-hitter of Yetman’s career. She followed that with another shutout performance the next day against Southern Indiana, pitching the Warriors to a 1-0 victory. Yetman allowed two hits while walking three and striking out 10. Molly has recorded double-digit strikeout totals in six of her 11 starts this season.
