Eagles
Ashland totaled a 4-2 week, including winning three out of four in Erie, PA. It is Ashland’s first three-game win streak since returning from Florida…the Eagles’ pitching has been a strength this season, as AU allowed one run or less in four games, winning three of those contests…junior pitcher Shannon Gray (Nova, OH/Crestview) went 3-0 with a save and recorded a 0.00 earned run average for the week. In 19.0 innings, she allowed 11 hits and one unearned run. She did not walk a batter and struck out eight…freshman lefty Logan Hursey (Zanesville, OH/John Glenn) tallied an odd stat line in the game one win over Mercyhurst on Sunday. She allowed 10 hits, but just one run, in six innings of work and earned the win…Gray is 5-4 on the year with a 1.68 ERA, while Hursey is 5-5 with a 1.93 earned run average…a two-run homer by senior third baseman Kristen McGaughey (Massillon, OH/Jackson) against Northern Kentucky in game two on Wednesday broke AU’s 30-inning scoreless streak. Ashland rallied to score seven runs and win that game, 7-5…AU is getting used to playing small ball. After 24 games last season, Ashland was 17-7 and had recorded 17 home runs. This year, AU is 13-11 with four homers…defensively, the Eagles played well for the week, totaling five errors in the six games. AU has 22 errors this season, while its opponents have recorded 34 miscues.

Bulldogs
Ferris State has won nine of its last 10 contests to date and is averaging 6.90 runs per game (69 total runs) during that 10-game span.The Bulldogs posted a 5-8 record in their previous 13 outings and averaged 3.38 runs a game (44 total runs) in that period. FSU’s eight-game winning streak (3/15-4/5) was its longest since the 2007 campaign when the Bulldogs won nine straight contests (3/8-25). The school record for most consecutive victories is 16 set by the 1982 squad. Junior first baseman Amanda Jager’s (Kalamazoo/Comstock) team-leading 10 doubles in 23 contests this spring represents a career season high, eclipsing her eight doubles in 41 outings a season ago. Jager, who currently leads the Bulldogs with a .410 batting average (25-61), is also the team leader in base hits (25), home runs (three), RBIs (16), total bases (44), slugging percentage (.721), and on-base percentage (.544). Junior pitcher Sarah Mueller (Santa Clarita, Calif./Valencia) has registered a 7-3 pitching mark with a 1.81 earned run average (17 earned runs) in 65.2 innings this season. Last season, she was 3-4 in the pitching circle with a 2.18 earned run average (13 earned runs) in 41.2 innings of action.

Oilers
The Oilers finished the week with a 2-4 record…They were swept by Indianapolis and split twin bills with Mercyhurst and Gannon…On the mound, Katie Yarnell and Jenna Binz picked up wins for the Oilers…Jessica Rolston led the offense by hitting .462 with two RBI’s and two runs scored…Alyssa Kushinski came up with the game winning hit in Findlay’s 6-5 win over Gannon in extra innings…Katie Ammons is leading the team on offense with a .351 batting average while Jeanne Hilvers is hitting .333…Ammons has also scored a team-high ten runs while Hilvers has knocked in a team-high seven runs…On the mound, Lauren Orban and Jenna Binz each have two wins to lead the club.

Golden Knights
Gannon went 4-2 last week, including a 2-2 mark in GLIAC action … the Lady Knights dropped an eight-inning decision to Findlay on Sunday, falling to 0-2 in extra-inning games this season … Katie Conner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) drove in the winning run during Sunday’s 6-5 victory with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh … Kara Hensley (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) hit .500 (10-20) last week with a .750 slugging percentage … Carol Kienzl (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) hit .476 … Kienzl was 5-for-8 with runners in scoring position and 7-for-10 with two outs last week … Lauren Soldner (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) went 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA in two starts, improving to 9-4 … Kadie Ondrus (Curtice, Ohio/Clay) was a multifaceted weapon during Sunday’s first game against Findlay, earning the win on the mound and recording three hits at the plate … Gannon is 15-0 this season when leading after the sixth inning.

Lakers
The Lakers upped their record to 21-8 (6-2) after going 2-2 over the weekend. Junior Nichole Woityra (Lake Orion, Mich.) led the Lakers in batting average over the course of the weekend, going 5-13 (.385) with one run and one RBI. Junior Becky Rudenga (South Holland, Ill.) brought in a team-high three runs and scored one of her own by hitting a three-run shot in game one against Northwood. Senior Stephanie Cole (Ada, Mich.) earned her ninth win of the season by pitching seven innings of one-hit softball in game two against Saginaw Valley State. Cole also picked up her second save of the season by retiring three straight NU batters in game one of the double-header. Through games on March 30, GVSU ranked 18th in Division II in batting average (.332), 20th in team ERA (1.66) and 12th in triples per game (0.48). Senior Elizabeth Smith (Chicago, Ill.) ranks 11 in DII with 1.25 runs batted in per game

Chargers
The Hillsdale College softball team lost three straight one-run games to end a busy week, as the team finished 3-5 in eight games over a five-day span…The Chargers’ freshmen, Jordan Kellie and Kellie Hirst, hit a combined four home runs during the week, three of them coming in the doubleheader sweep of UM-Dearborn…Hirst hit two home runs in that game…Hillsdale has lost seven one-run games this season…Junior pitcher Ellen Eldridge won two games during the weekend, including one in relief…Senior Katie Botsis has 14 RBI this season, and needs six more to move into fourth place on the school’s all-time RBI list…Botsis has an RBI in seven of the team’s past 11 games…She also has hits in six of the team’s past nine games…Hirst struck out a career-high 10 batters Sunday at Tiffin…The Chargers have another eight-game week coming up, including two games against the defending Division II national champions, SIU-Edwardsville, Tuesday afternoon.

Lakers
Freshman outfielder/pitcher Jennie Elliott (Frankfort, Mich.) homered twice and earned the pitching win in relief of starter Nikki Christensen (Marquette, Mich.) during Saturday’s 7-6 victory over Hillsdale. Elliott also had a home run during both games of LSSU’s twinbill against GLIAC leader Wayne State. Four of her five hits for the weekend were home runs. She batted .385 and totaled five RBIs. Elliott took the mound in three of the Lakers’ four games, pitching 5.1 relief innings and posting a 1-1 record…Senior center fielder April Brandt (White Cloud, Mich.) and junior third baseman Katie Brandt (White Cloud, Mich.) also homered during the Lakers’ win at Hillsdale and totaled three extra-base hits for the weekend. Katie Brandt, who is LSSU’s No. 2 hitter with a .273 average, has three home runs for the season…LSSU’s top hitter, sophomore catcher Nichole Dunford (Chesterfield, Mich.), batted .300 (3-10) for the weekend and is hitting .278 for the season.

Mercyhurst went 3-5 on the week, splitting doubleheaders with Clarion, Tiffin, and Findlay before scoring just one run in a two-game sweep by Ashland…Carrina Crow went 3-1 on the mound with a 1.35 ERA with a pair of two-hit complete game shutouts…Crow is now 8-5 with a 2.07 ERA on the year…Kara Gorgos hit a team-best .409 on the week and Jessica McNurlen went .407 with two doubles and three triples for a .704 slugging percentage…McNurlen is now hitting .402 on the season and ranked third in the GLIAC in batting average entering the week…As a team, Mercyhurst hit .306 on the week…The Lakers play two more doubleheaders this week, playing at crosstown rival Gannon Wednesday before hosting Lake Superior State Sunday.

Timberwolves
The Northwood University softball team posted a 2-4 record in GLIAC playlast week, spliting doubleheaders to Saginaw Valley State and Grand Valley State while being swept by Ferris State ... the Timberwolves are now 13-16 overall on the season ... Sam Thacker (Lincoln Park, Mich.) drove in seven runs for Northwood for the week, including her first two home runs of the season ... after not hitting any home runs during their 16-game trip to Florida, Northwood has hit 15 home runs in their last 13 contests ...Northwood hits the road for a pair of GLIAC doubleheaders this week – the Timberwolves will face Hillsdale Saturday afternoon before taking on Wayne State Sunday.

Cardinals
Saginaw Valley took the field for six games this past week going three and three in GLIAC competition. The Cardinals blasted a GLIAC season high 17 hits off of #9 Grand Valley State University on Saturday. SVSU also smashed a season high six doubles, the most any GLAIC team has this season. Stacy Kraatz (Howell, Mich./Hartland HS) pitched the first game in all three double headers this week going 2-1 with a 1.81 and striking out 12. Her only loss of the week was a 1-0 at Northwood when the Timberwolves scored in the bottom of the seventh to win the game. Kari Bowbly (Elkhart, Ind./Central) threw five strong innings against Ferris State on Sunday not allowing an earned run in the appearance and striking out two Bulldogs on the afternoon. Kraatz ranks second in the GLIAC with a 1.37 ERA and the Cardinals rank fourth overall (2.18). Freshman Jade Fulton (Byron, Mich./Byron HS) sits fourth in the GLIAC in strikeouts (74). Kraatz has also leads the Cardinals in most offensive categories, average (.387), hits (36), RBI’s (16), Homeruns (4), and total bases (55). She is tied for the GLAIC lead in home runs (4), fourth in runs scored (20) and is tied fourth in hits (36). Marsha Beaubein (Alpena, Mich.) is second on the team with a .366 batting average, stolen bases (8) and home runs (3), she ranks fourth in the GLIAC in stolen bases. Angela Kaiser (Waterford, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) has been one of SVSU’s most consistent offensive contributors all season with a 318 batting average and her team leading nine stolen bases also ranks third in the GLIAC. As a team SVSU ranks fifth in hitting (.280), fourth in pitching (2.18) and third in fielding (.959).

Warriors
Wayne State extended its winning streak to 12 games with home doubleheader sweeps of Hillsdale and Lake Superior last week … WSU’s next four road games are all non-conference doubleheaders (April 9 at Ferris State and April 17 at Tiffin), while the next eight GLIAC games are all in Detroit … senior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ont.) went 3-0 last week with a 1.24 earned-run average … she struck out 27 in 17 innings to increase her WSU strikeout total to 452 which ranks second all-time behind Kelly Hawker’s (1986-89) 456 … senior catcher Sarah Berry (Acton, Ont.) batted .643 last week (9-14) with three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, 18 total bases, a 1.286 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage … sophomore Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, Ont./Forest Heights C.I.) hit .500 (5-10) last week with three doubles … she also walked four times … the Warriors have committed just four errors during the win streak and have outscored their opponents 68-12 … Berry has a seven-game hitting streak, including six consecutive multiple-hit games, to raise her season batting average 69 points from .310 to .379 … senior first baseman Lindsey Perry (Taylor, Mich./Kennedy) scored four runs last week to become the eighth player in school history with 100 career runs scored … Berry moved into ninth place on the career RBI list with 94 after driving in 10 runs last week.
