Eagles
Ashland won both matches this week; both shutouts at the AU Soccer Complex. The Eagles defeated Saginaw Valley State, 1-0, on a goal by freshman Dani Lamb (Canton, OH/Jackson) in the 49th minute. Senior goalkeeper Marie Supanich (Sebastopol, CA/Santa Rosa Junior College) recorded her sixth shutout of the season by stopping five Cardinal shots. AU tallied its most goals of the season with a 6-0 win over Northwood on Sunday. Freshman Beth Morr (Ashland, OH), who notched the assist on Lamb’s game-winning goal on Friday, scored a pair of goals for Ashland. Freshman Erin Charnley (Brampton, ONT/St. Thomas Aquinas) tallied the match’s first goal and earned her ninth assist of the season later in the match. Charnley is second in the GLIAC in assists, just one behind last year’s GLIAC Player of the Year, Katy Tafler from Grand Valley State. Sophomore Kelly Usher (Ashland, OH) added her team-leading eighth goal later in the match. That total puts her in the top 10 in the conference.
