Eagles
 Ashland notched five goals against Malone on Friday afternoon. Sophomore forward Kelly Usher (Ashland, OH) scored the first two goals for AU, which ties her for the team lead with three goals scored. Senior midfielder Kelly Farrell (Parma, OH) tallied her first goal of the season and sophomore forward Casey Snyder (Tecumseh, MI) added a pair of goals in the second half. Freshman midfielder Erin Charnley (Brampton, ONT) tied a school single-game record with three assists against Malone and added the helper on Snyder’s goal on Sunday against Indianapolis. Three of Charnley’s four assists this week went to Snyder.

Bulldogs
  The Bulldogs’ top two leading scorers this season, senior midfielder Kristie Smilanich (Kalamazoo/Christian) and Heather O’Keefe have accounted for 71.4% (30-42) of the team’s points production and 85.7% (12-14) of the squad’s goal-scoring output. Junior forward Tammy Unsworth (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern) needs two more points to reach the 50th –career points mark. Unsworth accounted for the Bulldogs’ lone goal in Monday’s (9/3) 5-1 loss to nationally-ranked Quincy (Ill.) and presently has 48 career points (18-12=48) in 41 matches. Kristie Smilanich has compiled 18 points (7-4=18) in her first five matches this season after accumulating a combined 13 points (6-1=13) in her initial five contests a season ago.

 The Oilers dropped their second and third games of the season to Northern Kentucky and Bellarmine and have now lost all three of their games by one goal each…Ali Cariglio and Amanda Bachmayer scored the Oilers goals in the two games.

Golden Knights

  Gannon was perfect in two home matches last week, defeating Great Lakes Region foe Indianapolis (1-0) and Daemen (N.Y.) (4-0) … the Lady Knights are 2-1 after three matches for the first time since 1999, the program’s last winning season … Julie Devus’ (Akron, Ohio/Green) first career goal was the game-winner against Indianapolis … Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) recorded her first career hat trick with three goals and one assist against Daemen … Rowan entered the season with only four goals in her first two collegiate seasons … Tiffani Parks (Russellton, Pa./Deer Lakes) became Gannon’s all-time leader in career shutouts with a 1-0 victory over Indianapolis, her 11 career shutout … Jamie Shadd (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) moved into sixth place all-time at Gannon with her 37th career point last week.

  #2 Grand Valley State advanced to 4-0-0 on the year after defeating Missouri-St. Louis and SIU-Edwardsville... On Friday, GVSU beat UMSL by a 3-0 on goals by sophomore Irie Dennis (New Albany, Ohio), freshman Kristen Eible (Dewitt, Mich.) and junior Colleen Hillgard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy)...All three goals were their firsts of the year and Eible’s was the first of her collegiate career...Junior Kristina Nasturzio (Mississauga, Ont./Cawthra Park) recorded her third shutout of the season against UMSL, although she did not record a save...Nasturzio also played 66:58 minutes of shutout soccer before coming out of the game against SIUE, giving her 336:58 of shutout soccer so far this season with no goals allowed...On Sunday, the Lakers beat the Cougars by a 5-1 margin, with defending D-II and GLIAC Player of the Year Katy Tafler (Mississauga, Ont./Cawthra Park) scoring four goals in the win, upping her season total to five...Junior Ashley Elsass (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) notched the game-winning goal, her second goal and second game-winner of the season...Eible recorded two assists in the win, while Hillgard and seniors Emily Berner (Portage, Mich./Central) and Sue Christenson (Livonia, Mich./Ladywood) all notched one of their own.

  Mercyhurst continued on the road this week with matches against Tiffin and Rockhurst…Sophomore Taylor Hilinski scored two goals against Tiffin with Junior Sarah Powell adding the third to push past Tiffin 3-0…Powell scored the lone goal against Rockhurst in the 6th minute of the match, only to have her goal equalized later in the game to end the match with Rockhurst 1-1 in overtime…Sarah Powell now has 40 goals in 44 matches and has scored in six straight games on the year…Mercyhurst is ranked No.22 in the NSCAA/Adidas Top 25 poll.

Wildcats
   The Wildcats were in action only once over the past week and defeated Lewis 4-0…Renee LeBlanc scored two of the four goals in the win, and set a new NMU career record for goals with 39…Brittney Buchanan and Joanna Kiilunen scored the other goals against the Flyers…NMU has outscored its opponents 11-0 after three games…Kara Music and Dana Bush have combined for all the shutouts so far this season…The ‘Cats open GLIAC play this weekend with games at Ashland and Findlay.

Timberwolves
   The Northwood women’s soccer team fell to 0-3 on the season after a pair of non-conference losses last week … the Timberwolves lost to Lewis 3-0 before falling at Saint Joseph’s 4-1 … a pair of hometown players teamed up for the Timberwolves’ first goal of the season in the second half of the game at Saint Joseph’s … Courtney First (Midland, Mich.) found the back of the net off of a pass from Elizabeth Fockler (Midland, Mich./Dow) … NU’s lone action of the week comes Friday (Sept. 7) when the Timberwolves host Alma for a 5 p.m. match.

Cardinals
   Junior midfielder Stephanie Roy scored the game-winning goal in double overtime against #14 Quincy on Sunday giving SVSU arguably their biggest win under head coach Drago Dumbovic…Roy’s unassisted goal came at the 101:09 mark in a match which she totaled six shots…Roy also assisted on a goal against Detroit which tied the match at 1-1 in the first half…Roy leads the team with nine points and 14 total shots this season…Senior goalkeeper Stacy LaLond (Cheboygan, Mich.) made eight saves against Detroit and posted a shutout with seven saves against Quincy…She has tallied a 0.73 goals against average in four matches and made 32 saves…Seven different players have tallied at least one point for the Cardinals.
