The Eagles fell to Findlay, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. With that loss and Saginaw Valley State’s win over Northwood, AU misses the GLIAC tournament. Freshman Dani Lamb (Canton, OH/Jackson) tallied Ashland’s lone goal, her sixth of the season. She finished the year tied for second in goals and fourth in points (12). Freshman Beth Morr (Ashland, OH) recorded the assist and finished the season fourth on AU in goals (4) and fifth in points (10).

Senior forward Heather O’Keefe’s (Ada/Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central) 33 points (13-7=33) in 18 matches this season not only represents a career single-season high, but equals her combined points total (12-9=33) in 36 outings over the previous two seasons (2005 and 2006)... Heather O’Keefe’s goal at Tiffin last Sunday (10/28) marked the 10th time this season in which the forward has tallied a goal in a match... Ferris State’s 127 points on 44 goals and 39 assists in 18 matches this fall is a school single-season record, eclipsing the 120 points (46-28=120) set by the 2006 team. The 39 helpers also represents a school single-season best, bettering the 36 assists generated by the 2003 squad. The 2007 Bulldogs are also two goals shy of tying the program’s single-season goal-scoring total of 46 which was produced by the 2006 squad..

The University of Findlay will host Northern Michigan University in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament. The quarter final contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on DeHaven Field... The Oilers currently lead the all-time series against Northern Michigan 6-3. Earlier this season, Findlay defeated the Wildcats 3-2 at DeHaven Field on Sept. 9... The Oilers are coming off of a 2-1 win over Ashland University on Oct. 27. Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the Oilers tied the game up at 62:06 mark when Megan McCracken corralled the ball off of a deflection and booted it into the back of the net unassisted from a few yards away. A few minutes later, Amanda Bachmayer scored what proved to be the game winning goal off of an assist by Sara Jones at the 68:42 mark in the game.

Golden Knights
Gannon battled local rival Mercyhurst to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Sunday in the squad’s only action of the week … the tie snapped a 21-match losing streak to the Lakers … the Lady Knights were 0-21-1 all-time against Mercyhurst prior to Sunday’s tie … Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) scored GU’s only goal in the 13th minute … Rowan finished the season with seven goals (ninth-highest single-season total in school history) and 14 points (17th-highest single-season total in school history) … Tiffani Parks (Russellton, Pa./Deer Lakes) came into Sunday’s match at halftime, and promptly made seven saves in the second half and two overtime sessions to preserve the tie … Parks finished her career as GU’s all-time leader in shutouts (13) while ranking second in goals against average (1.51) and saves (259).

GVSU remains ranked #1 in the NSCAA poll after defeating Ferris State (5-0) on Friday…The Lakers finished the season undefeated (17-0, 8-0) for the first time in school history and ranked first in the conference, region and nation…Senior defender Emily Berner (Portage, Mich./Central) scored her first goal of the season against the Bulldogs on Friday…As of Oct. 21, the Lakers were first in the nation in scoring offense (4.31) and one of just two teams to win every game this season, along with Seattle Pacific…GVSU was second in goals-against average in the nation (0.373) and sixth in shutout percentage (0.625)…Katy Tafler (Mississauga, Ont./Cawthra Park) scored her 32nd and 33rd goals of the year against Ferris, tying the GVSU single-season record for goals…Tafler is first in the nation in goals per game (1.938) and points per game (4.5)…Junior goalkeeper Kristina Nasturzio (Mississauga, Ont./Cawthra Park) finished the season with a perfect 17-0 record in goal and was ranked second in the nation in goals-against average (0.272) and third in save percentage (0.9).

Mercyhurst secured one win and one tie this week as both of its games went into overtime…On Monday, the Lakers defeated IUP 3-2 in overtime off of a late goal from Christine Rehnert…Freshman Jamie Schroter had two assists on the match and Rehnert had one goal and one assist…On Sunday, the Lakers fought Gannon to a 1-1 tie in double overtime…Sophomore Taylor Hilinski had the tying goal in the 28th minute…Hilinski had both of the tying goals against IUP and Gannon this week.

Wildcats
The NMU women’s soccer team capped off the regular season with a 14-0 win over Finlandia on Sunday in the Superior Dome…The 14 goals scored is a new NMU record as the old record was 12 at West Virginia Tech in 2003…Ten of NMU’s 11 win were by shutout, the Wildcats also played to a 0-0 tie…Kaelah Zeppa had three goals against Finlandia…NMU will face Findlay in the GLIAC Tournament on Tuesday, the Oilers defeated the ‘Cats 2-3 earlier in the season…Kara Music has 13 career shutouts which is a new NMU record, for the season Music is 10-4-2 with a 0.75 goal-against average and a .861 save-percentage…Renee LeBlanc has a team-high eight goals on the season.

Northwood finished the 2007 season with a 4-0 loss at Saginaw Valley Saturday afternoon (October 29) … the Timberwolves finished the season 2-14 overall, 0-8 in the GLIAC … NU will return all but one player from the lineup that played on Saturday – senior Ashley Ptasnik (Cheboygan, Mich.) is the lone player who will not return next season.

Cardinals
The Cardinals will host Ferris State in a GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at the SVSU Soccer Field... SVSU ended the regular season with 4-0 win over rival Northwood...The first half of the game was the most successful for the Cardinals, scoring three of their four goals. Jaclyn Barrett (Williamston, Mich.) assisted Jaimie Sweezea’s (Flushing, Mich.) goal twenty four seconds into the game, to give them the 1-0 lead. During the 14th minute of the game, Tammie Edmund’s (Shelby Twp, Mich.) advanced the cardinals to 2-0. Two goals were not enough for them, as Stephanie Roy (Royal Oak, Mich.) kicked in the last two goals to clinch their win. Assisting Roy on the third goal was Tammie Edmunds and Mara Dedomenicis (Windsor, Ont.) on the fourth.
