Eagles
The Eagles finished seventh at the All-Ohio Championships last weekend, held at the University of Cincinnati. …junior Alissa Klaehn (Brunswick, OH) was third in both the 100m dash (11.96) and the long jump (5.81m)…Klaehn was also a part of the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth. The rest of the team was sophomore Steph Abbott (North Royalton, OH), junior Ana-Llia Fitzhugh (Hilliard, OH/Darby) and freshman Aneika Izeh (Xenia, OH). The squad had a time of 46.91. Abbott was also fifth in the long jump (5.74m)…senior Jen Tinney (Norwalk, OH/Western Reserve) finished fourth in the discus (44.40m) and fifth in the shot put (14.42m), while sophomore Elise Bottarini (Lancaster, OH) was fourth in the hammer (53.43m)…freshman basketball player Abby Kacsandi (Wooster, OH) took fourth place in the high jump (1.65m).

Bulldogs
 The Bulldogs competed Saturday (April 19) at the Northwood Open in Midland, Mich. Bulldog women’s 4x100-meter relay tandem of senior Amy Woodman (Bristol, U.K.), junior Krystle Wilson (Detroit/Trinity Catholic) along with freshmen Marva Goodson (Saginaw/Bridgeport) and Jade Kaufman (Ubly) claimed first place in the event with a time of 47.74, but also broke the school record established in 1992.Ferris also won the 4x400-meter relay (4:03.51).Wilson added a pair of first-place performances in the 200 meters (25.85) and the 400 meters (56.62). Woodman placed first in the long jump (18-10.75) and finished second in the 200 meters (26.05). Ferris took the top three spots in the 200 meters as Kaufman placed third (26.61). She also earned runner-up laurels in the 400 meters (57.87).Sophomore Emily Cross (Riley/Armada) won the high jump (5-6). The other first-place finish for the Bulldog women came from senior thrower Kamitra Carroll (Flint/Carman-Ainsworth) in the shot put (45-10.50).Ferris freshman Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) placed second in the 3,000 meters (10:33.33), freshman Paige Onweller (Lapeer/East) took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:51.29) and freshman Megan Josey (Spring Lake) came in third overall in the 3,000 meters (11:05.13). Senior Dia Price (Mt.Morris/Beecher) finished tied for third overall in the high jump (5-2.25).Ferris State will next compete in a pair of meets on April 25-26. The Bulldogs will send student-athletes to both the Hillsdale “Gina” Relays in Michigan along with the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Oilers
  The University of Findlay women’s outdoor track and field team completed the second day of the All-Ohio Championship on Saturday, April 19 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The women’s team took fifth with 61 points.On the women’s side, Kirby Blackley won the 100 meter hurdles and long jump to pace the Oilers. Blackley finished first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.46 and took home the gold in the long jump after a leap of 19’06.25. She also teamed with Pamela Bullock, Shannon Williamson and Stephanie Charnigo to take first in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:48.69. Blackley, Bullock, Williamson and Charnigo then took third in the 4x100 meter relay with a school record breaking time of 46.50. Bullock added a third place finish in the 200 meter dash at 24.44 and also took fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.99. Kristi Comstock was fifth in the 800 meter run at 2:14.70 and Jessica Latham placed sixth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:43.74.The Oilers will be back in action again on April 24 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.

  Grand Valley State’s women’s track team competed at the Dave Rankin Invite in West Lafayette, Ind. Jenn O’Shesky, Heather VanderSlik all finished at the top of their respective events.O’Shesky’s time of 1:02.38 was two-hundredths of a second faster than second place in the 400-meter hurdles, earning her the first-place finish. Kirsten Nozime and Danielle Fonseca also ran well in the event, finishing third and fourth, respectively. VanderSlik cleared 5’7.25" to win the high jump, with fellow Laker Maegan Doyen taking third by clearing 5’4.25".

  The Hillsdale College Women’s Track & Field turned in a solid effort at the Eastern Michigan University Invitational on Saturday. Senior Jen Gunderson ran 4:39.05 in the 1500m Run. That mark ranks as one of the Top-25 marks in the country currently. Upperclassmen Sarah Kauk and Kristin Donovan also nearly turned in provisional marks for the Chargers. Kauk cleared 3.55m (11’ 7 ¾”) in the Pole Vault to finish 4th. Kauk currently ranks 12th nationally in the Pole Vault. Meanwhile, Donovan threw 39.87m (130’ 10") in the Javelin to finish 2nd. Other top performers included Anna Leutheuser (5th – Javelin), the 4x100m Relay (6th), the 4x400m Relay (6th) and Gwen Buchhop (8th – Javelin). The Chargers return to action this weekend at the 42nd Annual Hillsdale College “GINA” Relays.

 Lake Superior State won three events at the Northwood Open held Saturday. The Laker women also improved upon three school records during the day...Sophomore Katie Scott (Mitchell, Ont.) was a double winner for the Laker women, taking the 3,000-meter run in 10:27.12 and the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:23.35...Sophomore Ashley Quick (Harbor Springs, Mich.) won the 5,000-meter run in 18:48.53...Sophomore Amanda Pieczynski (Posen, Mich.) set two school records. Her time of :12.88 broke Celina Grondin’s three-year-old 100-meter dash record and was good for third place. She improved upon her own 200-meter dash record with a fifth-place time of :26.30...Sophomore Jill Walton (Kingsley, Mich.) competed in the javelin throw for the second time in her career and improved upon her school record by nearly 12 feet. She had a throw of 105-1 and placed fifth...Freshman Taylor Patton (Northwood, Ohio) placed third in the women’s high jump (5-2 ¼), while freshman Shelby LaBuhn (Ubly, Mich.) was third in the women’s triple jump (34-0 ¼)...The Lakers will run a dual meet on Tuesday at Northwood and compete at Hillsdale on Thursday and Friday.

   Andrea Metz won the 1,500 (4:52.88) and 3,000 (10:41.87) for the Michigan Tech track and field team at the UMD Bulldog Open Thursday (April 18). Lauren Wiza also finished third in the 3,000 (11:18.17).Erin Ballun posted three top five finishes on the day. She won the high jump (5-3), finished third in the long jump (15-10.75) and fifth in the 200 meter dash (29.70).The 4x200 relay team of Ballun, Lindsay Fry-Schallhorn, Beth Geerer and Stephanie Schiel, also set a new school record in 1:59.22. It was the first time that the Huskies ever competed in the event.In the women’s javelin, Sam Stam finished fourth (87-8) and Lauren Wiza finished fifth (81-10).Fry-Schallhorn finished fourth in the 400 meter dash (1:09.86) and Geerer finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:14.19).The 4x400 meter relay team of Schiel, Geerer, Kate Hagenbuch and Dani Holmgren finished third in 4:21.36.

 Saturday the Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team competed at the Northwood Open. Danielle St. Onge was second with a time of 12.76 in the 100 meter dash. Maegan Hendershot with a time of 2:20.39 in the 800 placed fourth in the event. In the 1,500 Wiedmeyer led the way with a third-place showing with a time of 5:01.36.The ‘Cats went second and third in the 5,000 with Michele Bisig (19:44.33) and Danielle Stein (20:13.62) respectively. Natalie Bertucci (15.92) was third in the 100 hurdles.The long jump saw the ‘Cats go second and third, with Luehmann (17-02.25) and St. Onge (17-01.25) respectively. Angie Leckson had a throw of 39-01.0 in the shot put for a fifth-place showing. Krista Squiers won the javelin with an effort of 119-09.0. Boik in the javelin was fourth (109-04.0), Paris Malin seventh (100-11.0) and Leckson 10th (90-06.0). Squiers also competed in the discus where she was fourth (122-04.0) and in the hammer where she was also fourth (141-00).

On the women’s side, Charonne Thomasos (Toronto, Ont.) earned first place in the triple jump with a season-best effort of 34-0.25. Kylen Cieslak (Livonia, Mich.) finished second in the 1,500 (4:53.90), while Hannah Stone (Lapeer, Mich.) placed third in the 800 (2:20.13). Ashley Neuhaus (Shepherd, Mich.) and Valerie Watkins (Detroit, Mich.) each earned fourth place finishes - Neuhaus in in the 400 (58.56) and Watkins in the 400 hurdles (1:09.71). Northwood will host Lake Superior in a newly scheduled dual meet Tuesday afternoon (April 22).
