Eagles
  The AU women were ranked first in the country in last week’s NCAA Division II indoor national rankings. AU also climbed to the top of the poll a year ago…the Eagles were at the University of Akron last week. Junior Alissa Klaehn (Brunswick, OH) placed in four events. She won the long jump, was fourth in the 60m hurdles, seventh in the 60m dash and anchored the 4X400 relay that was second…Steph Tinney (Norwalk, OH/Western Reserve) broke her own freshman record in the 400m dash (56.44) last week…in this week’s NCAA performance lists, senior Jenn Tinney (Norwalk, OH/Western Reserve) is the national leader in the shot (49-11.25) and has the eighth best measurement in the weight throw (56-09.50). Freshman Tara Cooper (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) is the national leader in the weight throw (63.2.25) and junior Michelle Stark (Amherst, OH/Steele) is third (59-08.25).

Bulldogs
 The Lake Superior State Open in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. was added to the schedule following the cancellation of the Division II Team Challenge. The Bulldog women won three individual events on the day. Senior thrower Kamitra Carroll (Flint/Carman-Ainsworth) was a double winner as she took both the weight throw (54-2.75) and the shot put (44-5.50). Senior Amy Woodman (Bristol, U.K.) claimed the women’s 55 meters (7.37). Sophomore Emily Cross (Riley/Armada) finished second in both the 55-meter hurdles (9.04) and the high jump (5-0.25). The Bulldog women were second overall in the 4x400-meter relay (4:09.12). Senior Sonya White (Allegan) took third place in the weight throw (45-4.25) while freshman Marva Goodson (Saginaw/Bridgeport) placed third in both the 55 meters (7.56) and the 200 meters (27.10). The Bulldogs are next slated to compete in the Grand Valley State Open Friday, Feb. 15, inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena at Allendale, Mich. The action begins at 5 p.m. (EST).

  The University of Findlay women’s indoor track and field teams completed the second and final day of the Indiana University Relays on Saturday, February 2 in Bloomington, Indiana. Kirby Blackley once again led the squad by breaking her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles for the third consecutive time. Blackley raced to her record and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 8.44, which was good for third at the event.Blackley then teamed with Lindsey Schmitmeyer, Pamela Bullock and Stephanie Charnigo to take 11th in the 4x400 meter relay at 3:53.13. Bullock added a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash at 25.02 while Kristi Comstock and Jessica Latham placed sixth and seventh respectively in the 800 meter run. Comstock finished the event at 2:18.71 while Latham raced her way to a time of 2:19.24. The Oilers will be back in action again on February 8-9 at the New Balance Invitational in New York, New York as well as the Friday Night Series on Friday, February 8 in Ada, Ohio.

 A winter storm cancelled the NCAA D-II Challenge at SVSU.The Lakers will resume action on Friday, Feb. 8 at the St. Valentine’s Invite hosted by Boston University and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 9.

  A winter storm cancelled the NCAA D-II Challenge at SVSU.The Chargers will resume action on Friday, Feb. 8 at the St. Valentine’s Invite hosted by Boston University and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 9.

 After a downstate snowstorm cancelled last weekend’s meet at Saginaw Valley State University, Northern Michigan, Northwood and Ferris State headed north for a meet that was put together at the last minute by Lake Superior State...Sophomore Katie Scott (Mitchell, Ont.) won the women’s 3,000-meter run in 10:27.98, which is currently the second-fastest time in the GLIAC, while sophomore Ashley Quick (Harbor Springs, Mich) was second in 10:56.28...Freshman Shelby LaBuhn (Ubly, Mich.) won the women’s high jump (1.58m) and was third in the 55-meter hurdles (:09.53).

Wildcats
  The Northern Michigan University women’s indoor track and field team was scheduled to compete at the NCAA II Challenge at SVSU, but that competition was cancelled because of the weather. NMU decided to compete in a meet at Lake Superior State University on Saturday. Krista Squiers with a throw of 14.18-meters placed second in the weight throw. In the high jump, Leslie Luehmann and Natalie Bertucci tied for second in the high jump as both cleared 1.53. Callie Boik with athrow of 10.36 was sixth in the shot put. NMU had the top three finishers in the mile. Danielle Stein broke the tape first with a time of 5:23.84, second was Jennifer Wiedmeyer (5:27.26) and third Kristin Schultz (5:27.55). Brittney Coehoorn placed fifth in the mile (5:30.19). The Wildcats had two runners in the finals of the 55-dash. Danielle St. Onge was second (7.53) and Brittnee Balbierz fourth (7.67). In the 400 the ‘Cats went one-two and had four of the top six runners. Stephanie Boyer was first (59.25) as she was followed by Kaylee Laakso (59.95). Fourth in the event was Jessica Trotochaud (1:00.94). Bertucci captured the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.72, teammate Luehmann was fifth (10.62). Maegan Hendershot led the charge with a second-place finish (2:23.65). Third was Erin VanEnkevort (2:24.38), fourth Bibiane Mahy (2:25.40).The ‘Cats went one-two in the 200 with Boyer taking the title (26.42) and Balbierz second (27.07). In the 3K the ‘Cats had Michelle Bisig third (10:56.72).The 4x400 relay of Trotochaud, VanEnkevort, St. Onge and Boyer won the event with a time of 4:08.67. NMU will host the Northern Challenge on Saturday (Feb. 9).

Timberwolves
   The Northwood University track and field teams competed at the Lake Superior Open Saturday afternoon (February 2).Hannah Stone (Lapeer, Mich./East) claimed first place in the 800 meter run. Her time of 2:21.38 was a personal-best for the sophomore. Katie Anema (Kentwood, Mich./South Christian) broke her own school record in the weight throw. She tossed 40-1 to place fourth overall. Christy Kulp (Grand Ledge, Mich.) finished third in the shot put at 39-5, while Ashley Neuhaus (Shepherd, Mich.) placed third in the 400 at 1:00.51.The Timberwolves will split up next week, with some members of the team heading to Northern Michigan while others will compete at Saginaw Valley.

  A winter storm cancelled the NCAA D-II Challenge at SVSU last weekend. The Cardinals will resume action on Friday, Feb. 8 when they host the Collegiate Classic which will begin at 4 pm.
