Eagles
  The Ashland University women’s golf team finished 12th out of 20 teams at the Northern Kentucky Invitational, held Mar. 29-30, at Perry Park Golf Course... Grand Valley State shot 621 to claim the team trophy. The Eagles had a team score of 666...Kristi Piepenbrink shot 146 to win medalist honors. AU’s best placement was turned in by Chrstine Suchy, who finished in a tie for 14th. She shot 156. Annie Miles was next in line for AU, she shot 162.

Bulldogs
  Ferris State began the spring portion of its 2007-08 schedule this last weekend (March 29-30) at the Northern Kentucky Invitational in Perry Park, Ky. The Bulldogs produced a third-place showing among 21 participating schools with a two-round 627 team score. Senior Becky Hoffman (Gaines/Swartz Creek) and junior Alison Meyer (Duluth, Minn./Central) were Ferris’ top finishers with an eighth-place tying 154 scores. Hoffman generated back-to-back 74 rounds while Meyer turned in a final-round 76 after firing a 78 opening-round score. Junior Meghan Hunter (Dexter) also cracked the top 20 with a 19th-place tying 159-stroke total (82-77=159)... The Bulldogs are ranked third nationally in the second Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women’s Golf Coaches’ Poll, which was released March 21. FSU received 212 points to trail only Florida Southern and Rollins (Fla.). Ferris has been listed third in all four polls released during the 2007-08 season...FSU will participate in the Illinois Illini Classic this weekend, April 4-5, at the Stone Creek Country Club in Urbana, Ill.

Oilers
  The UF women’s golf team placed eighth at the Northern Kentucky University Invitational on Sunday, Mar. 30 at the Perry Park Golf Course in Perry Park, Ky. The Oilers shot a 329 in the opening round on Saturday and came back with a 331 in the second round on Sunday for a total of 660... Kristy Homan led the way by taking 31st place with a 162 (81, 81). She was followed by Stephanie Gillette (82, 81 – 162), Andrea Vogt (81, 83 – 163), Alyssa Nigro (87, 86 – 173), Jessica Warth (89, 89 – 178) and Erin Craig (85, 95 – 180)...The Oilers will be back in action again on April 5-6 at the Ashland Invitational in Ashland, Ohio.

Golden Knights
 The Gannon women’s golf team opened its spring season with a 19th-place finish Sunday afternoon at the Northern Kentucky Invitational. Gannon finished 19th out of 21 teams with a 707, posting rounds of 352 and 355. Jess Slonaker (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) was Gannon’s top golfer, finishing tied for 51st place with a 169. The junior recorded rounds of 84 and 85. Christa Cox (T71st, 83-91-174), Amanda Eckhart (T74th, 91-84-175), Allyssa Ferriell (T127th, 112-95-207) completed Gannon’s team. Gannon returns to action April 5-6 at the Ashland Invitational.

Grand Valley State University
Lakers
   Grand Valley State University placed its top six finishers in the top 20 at the Northern Kentucky University Spring Invitational to win the event. The Lakers finished with a score of 621, three strokes ahead of second place Indianapolis. Kristina Langton was the top finisher for GVSU, scoring a 154 over the weekend. The Lakers will pick up the clubs again this weekend, April 4-5, at the University of Illinois Invite in Urbana, Ill. Langton shot a 79 on day one and then rebounded with a 75 in round two to finish at 154, tied for eighth place. Ashley Smith was just one stroke behind her and finished tied for 11th place with a 155 (78-77). Tracy Puckering and Michelle Boogaard both shot 80 on day one and 78 on day two to score 158 and finish tied for 16th place. Caitlin Benett and Allie Tyler rounded out the top six for GVSU, tying for 19th place at 159 (76-83).

Mercyhurst College
Lakers

 The Mercyhurst women’s golf team opened its spring schedule Saturday and Sunday at the Northern Kentucky Spring Invitational at Perry Park Golf Course. Caitlin Cummings shot rounds of 92 and 91 as the Lakers finished 20th out of 21 teams at the event... All five Mercyhurst golfers shot within 12 strokes of each other and the Lakers showed the third-best improvement from day one to day two. The team shot a 381 during the opening round but improved to 366 in round two for a two-day total of 747.

Northwood University
Timberwolves
   The NU women’s golf team placed 16th out of 21 teams at the NKU Spring Invitational Sunday (March 30)... Northwood shot team scores of 354 and 346 to finish at 700... Lotte Voermans (Tilburg, Netherlands) was the low finisher for the Timberwolves. She shot rounds of 84 and 83 to finish in a tie for 49th overall. Northwood travels to the Ashland Invitational April 5-6.
