  The Eagles placed 10th at the Ferris State Invitiational on Sept. 1 & 2 at the Katke Golf Course on the FSU campus in Big Rapids, Mich... AU was led by freshman Annie Miles (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) who placed 23rd with a two-round total of 161 (80-81) ... Ashland finished 12th at the Grand Valley State Invitiational held at the Meadows Golf Course on the campus of GVSU in Allendale, Mich... The Eagles were again led by Miles who carded a pair of 79s for a 158 total and a tie for 18th place.

  Ferris State opened the 2007-08 season by capturing its fourth straight Ferris State Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 1-2) title as the Bulldogs carded a two-round 616 team score (+40) on the par 72, 5,980-yard Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. FSU registered rounds of 309 and 307 to take first-place honors in the 18-team tournament field... Freshman Jacqueline Benscoter (Metamorra/Lapeer West) made her collegiate debut an impressive one as she claimed top individual medalist honors with an even-par and tournament record 144 score (74-70=144)... The Bulldogs have three individuals place among the top 10 with junior Raquel Hansen’s (West Olive/Grand Haven) fifth-place 153 score (75-78=153, +9) leading the way. Seniors Becky Hoffman (Gaines/Swartz Creek) and Missy Ward (Fenton/Linden) each tied for eighth place with 11-over par 155 scores. Hoffman had rounds of 80 and 75 while Ward produced 74 and 81 rounds, respectively... FSU finished third of 17 teams with a 36-hole 621 score (311-310=621) at the Grand Valley State Laker Classic (Sept. 3-4), which was held at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. Leading the Bulldogs was Becky Hoffman, who fired a ninth-place 153 (77-76=153, +9) . Jacqueline Benscoter took 10th place as a result of garnering a 154 score (74-80=154, +10).... Ferris State is ranked third nationally by Golf World magazine in the preseason edition of the 2007-08 Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Women’s Golf Coaches Poll, which was released Aug. 29. The Bulldogs, under ninth-year head coach Brad Bedortha, received 365 points. Florida Southern, the 2007 NCAA Division II National Champion, was first with 432 points while Rollins (Fla.) was chosen second with 407 points.

  The Oilers took ninth at the Bulldog Invitational and 11th at the Laker Invitational...In both events, senior Stephanie Gillette led the squad...She finished tenth at Ferris State and 31st at Grand Valley State.

  The Gannon women’s golf team opens the 2007 fall season September 9-10 at the Youngstown State Invitational.

  Grand Valley State opened the 2007-08 season with two tournaments in four days...GVSU finished in third place with a two round total of 632 in the Ferris State Invitational...The Lakers shot a 318 on Sunday, coupled with their 314 from Saturday...Freshman Kristina Langton led the way as she tied for 10th place with a 156...Sophomore Caitlin Bennett tallied a 157, which tied her for 12th place and junior Michelle Boogaard shot a 158 for 18th place...Grand Valley then came back and won the Laker Classic at the Meadows Golf Course with a score of 608...The Lakers shot a 303 on Monday and a 305 on Tuesday to win the tournament by seven strokes over Indianapolis...Freshman Allie Tyler tied for third place overall with a 151 as she shot a 72 and a 79...Langton tied for seventh place with a 152, recording the lowest score on Monday (71)...Bennett also tied for seventh place with a 152...Senior Tracey Puckering tied for 18th place with a 158 (76, 82) and sophomore Caitlin Duval tied for 21st place with a two day score of 159 (82, 77)...The Lakers will travel to East Lansing, Mich. to play in the Mary Fossum Invitational at Michigan State Univ. on Sept. 8-9.

Timberwolves
   The Northwood University women’s golf team placed 13th at the Laker Fall Classic Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 4)... The Timberwolves shot team scores of 348 and 344 to finish at 692. Host Grand Valley was the overall winner at 608, followed by Indianapolis at 615... Leading the way for Northwood was sophomore Paige Molnar (Corunna, Mich.), who tied for 21st with rounds of 80 and 79. Sophomore Lotte Voermans (Tilburg, Netherlands) shot 82 and 83 to finish in a tie for 38th... Northwood picked up a 13th place finish at the Ferris State Invitational on Sunday. NU tallied a two-round score of 697 (352-345) and were led by Voermans who carded scores of 81 and 76 for a 157 total...The Timberwolves are back in action at Southern Indiana Sept. 23-24.
