Northwood University junior forward Megan Starnes matched her career-high with 24 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and finishing with three steals in the Timberwolves 68-65 road win over Lake Superior. She went 8-15 from the floor and 7-8 from the foul line in the game. Starnes is leading Northwood in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (7.2), ranking in the top-10 in the GLIAC in both categories. Starnes has led the Timberwolves to a 4-1 start in conference play, the best in the program’s history.
Senior forward Julie Slot led the Chargers two two road victories last week over Ashland and Findlay. Against the Eagles, Slot scored a career-high 32 points, and hit a career-best six shots from 3-point land. She followed that game up with a 20-point effort in Hillsdale’s 88-74 win at Findlay. In the two games, Slot averaged 26 points, five rebounds and four assists, while connecting on 7-of-12 shots from 3-point territory. Slot currently ranks second on the squad in scoring and rebounding averging 13.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg respectively.
