Kim Wyngaard - Grand Valley State

In three games over the Holidays, senior KimWyngaard led Grand Valley State in both points (14.7) and rebounds (8.3) as the Lakers picked up two wins. In the first game of the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout, a 52-49 win over St. Edwards, Wyngaard led the team with 10 rebounds while recording a career-high three blocks. In a loss to #6 Valdosta State, Wyngaard was 7-7 from the field, scoring 16 points and tallying seven rebounds. In the Lakers’ 66-55 win over #11 Northern Kentucky, Wyngaard led GVSU with a career-high 20 points while adding eight rebounds.

South Division Player Of The Week
Kim Vargas - Gannon
(So, F, 6-0, Sterling, Va./Broad Run)
Sophomore forward Kim Vargas earns her second GLIAC South Division “Player of the Week” award of the season after helping Gannon to a 1-2 record against some tough competition over the Holiday Break. She tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks in a loss to GLVC foe Bellarmine. Vargas then recorded 12 points and two rebounds in a loss to #18 Stonehill. She posted a 20-point, six-rebound, and three-block performance in a win over West Virginia Wesleyan. Vargas averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over the three games.
