The Eagles knocked down 21-of-23 free throw attempts in a 75-57 win at Central State...the win put AU at 3-1 on its current six-game road trip, with the final two games coming at Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State this weekend…Ashland is 4-4 on the road this season, while the Eagles were just 4-6 away from home last year…junior Betsy Morrison (Gahanna, OH/Gahanna Lincoln) picked up her fourth double-double of the season, as she notched 17 points and 12 rebounds. She was 10-of-10 from the charity stripe…junior guard Lisa Graue (Dayton, OH/Wayne) added 15 points, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Graue leads the Eagles with 46 steals…Ashland, the second-best rebounding team in the GLIAC, outrebounded Central State, 45-32, and secured 13 offensive rebounds. AU is third in the league in that category.

Bulldogs
Senior Rachel Folcik led the Bulldogs to a 2-1 mark last week as she tallied 68 points, 19 rebounds, five assists, five steals and three blocked shots in the three contests. For the week, she made 29 of her 52 (.558) of her field goal attempts and averaged 22.7 points per contest. On Monday, the Bulldogs 24-game winning streak was snapped as they fell at home against Northwood 68-64. Folcik notched her 1,500th career point as the Bulldogs topped GLIAC South Division co-leader Gannon 76-61 Thursday (Jan. 17) evening. To end the week, Folcik poured in 36 points to lead Ferris State to an 81-70 victory over Mercyhurst.

Oilers
The Oilers had a rough week, dropping two games to Tiffin and Lake Superior State…Findlay lost 73-58 to Tiffin and 86-73 at home to Lake Superior State…The Oilers have now lost five games in a row…Junior guard Brittany Wells led the Oilers during the week by averaging 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in the two contests…Junior forward Ashley Westenbarger drained six three pointers in the two games and now leads the team with 30 triples on the season…She is shooting 48.4 percent from long range which ranks in the top half of the GLIAC…In the two losses, the Oilers shot only 21-of-64 (32.9%) from the field in the second halves…Findlay only connected on 29.8 percent (14-of-47) three pointers in the two games despite a 6-of-13 showing from Westenbarger.

Golden Knights
The Lady Knights went winless during a trip last week to Ferris State (76-61) and Grand Valley State (60-47) … Gannon finished their GLIAC stint 1-14 all-time at Ferris State and Grand Valley State, including an 0-6 mark at Ferris State … the Ferris State loss snapped a season-high five-game winning streak and was Gannon’s first road loss of the season … the Lady Knights had previously dropped one home game and three on neutral courts … the Ferris State loss also snapped a streak of 27 consecutive victories dating back to 2005-06 when leading at halftime as Gannon led 32-30 at the intermission … Kim Vargas (Sterling, Va./Broad Run) averaged 21 points and 5.5 rebounds last week, reaching the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season with 23 points at Grand Valley State … it was two points shy of her career-high … Allison Rothlisberger (New Martinsville, W.Va./Magnolia) pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds at Grand Valley State … Gannon went 11:04 without a point during the second half at GVSU as the Lakers went on a 23-0 run.

The Lakers upped their record to 11-6, 6-2 with wins over Mercyhurst (70-54) and Gannon (60-47)…Junior forward Kim Wyngaard (Kimberly, Wisc.) led Grand Valley State, averaging 16.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game…Wyngaard tied two career highs in the win against Gannon, making two three-pointers and recording four steals…Wyngaard was also a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe…Sophomore center Lauren Buresh (Stanwood, Mich.) set a career-high by recording 13 points in the win against Mercyhurst…Freshman Kari VanDerSchaaf (Alto, Mich.) recorded her first collegiate points against Mercyhurst, going 1-1 from the field and 1-1 from the free throw line for three points in five minutes.

The Chargers women’s basketball team spilt their Upper Peninsula road trip last weekend with a loss at Michigan Tech on Saturday and a win at Northern Michigan Sunday…Hillsdale allowed a season-high 84 points vs. the Huskies, but responded by setting a new season-low in points allowed vs. NMU (46)…Junior Katie Cezat had her seventh game of scoring 24 or more points in the win Sunday, getting 27 points…She has grabbed at least eight rebounds in all 16 games this season, and had 14 vs. the Wildcats…She is leading the conference with 11.9 rebounds per game…Sophomore Janay Miller scored a career-high 14 points against the Wildcats Sunday…Sophomore Brooke Knight has at least five rebounds and five assists in each of the past three games…The Chargers have won 15 games in a row vs. Thursday’s opponent, Mercyhurst, and is 17-1 since 1998 against the Lakers.

Senior guard Shalyn Beauchamp (Rock, Mich.) made 15-of-16 free throws and scored a career-high 28 points to lead LSSU to an 86-73 victory at Findlay last Saturday. She scored nine points during a 13-4 run that gave the Lakers a 14-point lead in the second half. Beauchamp is currently ranked 13th in the GLIAC in rebounding (6.4 rpg), 14th in steals (1.88 spg), fifth in assists (4.89 apg) and sixth in free-throw percentage (.843)…Junior center Alyssa VanderWal (Allendale, Mich.) leads the GLIAC in field-goal percentage (.699) and blocks per game (1.94)…LSSU post players VanderWal, junior Jackie Armstrong (Haslett, Mich.) and senior Danielle Makins (Grosse Ile, Mich.) are shooting a combined 54.8 percent from the field…LSSU travels to Saginaw Valley State on Thursday before playing host to Ashland on Saturday. The Lakers defeated SVSU 61-56 on Jan. 3. VanderWal led the Lakers with 13 points and five rebounds, while freshman Emily Joseph (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Armstrong added 12 points each.

The Lakers began a four-game road trip with a pair of losses this week. Mercyhurst lost to Grand Valley State 70-54 and dropped an 81-70 decision to Ferris State…Mercyhurst hung in both games, trailing Grand Valley State by five points at the half and holding a 66-64 lead over Ferris State with under six minutes to play…Freshman Amy Achesinski scored less than 10 points in a game for the first time in her career against Grand Valley State, but bounced back to post her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Ferris State…Sophomore transfer Stevie Spetoskey had nine points, seven rebounds and four assists against Grand Valley and followed that up with 17 points, making 3-of-6 three-pointers, against Ferris State…The Lakers entered the weekend averaging 21.6 turnovers per game but averaged just 10.0 in the two contests.

Huskies
The Huskies ran their winning streak to nine games with a pair of victories last week. Michigan Tech is now 15-1 in their last 16 games and 8-0 at home . Sophomore Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) tallied a career-high 26 points in a 84-67 win over Hillsdale last Saturday. She also had 10 rebounds in the game as well for her eighth double-double of the season. Wysocky ranks in the top five of the GLIAC in scoring (16.3), rebounding (9.8), field goal percentage (56.8), 3-point field goal percentage (51.2) and free throw percentage (88.7) . Senior Catherine Rottier (Seymour, Wis.) reached the 1,000-point milestone for her career with a free throw in the first half of last Thursday's (Jan. 17) win over Wayne State. The 5-8 guard, who needed seven points heading into the game, tallied 16 points in the win and five more in Saturday's win to move to 1,012 career points. Sophomore Danae Danen (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) scored 39 points and grabbed nine rebounds in two wins last week. The 6-0 center recorded a new career high with 22 points on Thursday before backing it up with 17 more points Saturday.

Wildcats
The Wildcats will face Ferris State on Thursday and Findlay on Saturday to wrap up the home stand…Last week the ‘Cats dropped games to Wayne State and Hillsdale…NMU has now lost three games in a row and are 2-3 in the past five games…Allison Carroll led the ‘Cats against Wayne State with 24 points while Cassie Hegbloom has a game-high 10 rebounds…Carroll was also the high scorer for the ‘Cats against Hillsdale with 13 points…Carroll leads the team in the scoring column with 15.1 ppg with Kelsey Deacon next at 12.2…Carroll is pulling down a team-high 6.2 rpg to lead the ‘Cats and has 17 blocks to lead the team…Deacon had both three-pointers against Hillsdale and leads the team with 39, she also has 50 assists to lead the ‘Cats…Steffani Stoeger has 33 steals to pace the ‘Cats…NMU has a +5.1 rebounding margin.

Timberwolves
Northwood continued its strong play last week, earning a pair of GLIAC road victories … the Timberwolves improved to 11-5 overall, 7-2 in the GLIAC after posting wins over Ferris State and Saginaw Valley … Northwood’s 11 wins on the season are the most since the 1991-92 season, when NU finished with 12 victories … NU’s seven conference victories are the most for the Timberwolves since 1985-86, when Northwood went 8-8 … the Timberwolves win over Ferris State was the first for NU against the Bulldogs since the 1994-95 season, a span of 24 games … Junior forward Megan Starnes (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) led the way for Northwood for the week … she averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game ... Starnes scored 18 points to go with a team-high nine rebounds and four steals in the Timberwolves win at Ferris State … she then finished with game-highs in both points (19) and rebounds (nine) to go with three steals in the Timberwolves win over SVSU … senior Katie Gonta (Brighton, Mich.) also had a strong week for Northwood – she had career-highs in points (19), assists (five) and minutes (39) against Ferris State … Gonta then made the game-winning free throw with 0.8 seconds remaining in Timberwolves 61-60 win over Saginaw Valley.

The Cardinals went 1-1 last week, bringing their record to 7-9 overall and 1-7 in the GLIAC…the win came at Tiffin on Saturday by a score of 86-71…four Cardinals scored in double figures at Tiffin, including LaTille Ross (Opelika, Ala./Alabama St.) and Brittany Burns (Saginaw, Mich./Alabama St.), who scored 27 and 20 points respectively…Tricia Everett (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley) recorded her third consecutive game, and fifth game overall, with double-figures in assists against Tiffin...Everett, who leads the GLIAC in assists per game (7.44) and minutes per game (39.06), recorded double-doubles in both contests this week with 15 points and 12 assists against Tiffin and 16 points and 10 assists against Northwood…Ross currently ranks fourth in the GLIAC in points per game with 16.7…Burns ranks 11th in the conference in points per game (14.4) and ninth in steals per game (2.13)…Kara Kinzer (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica Eisenhower) leads the GLIAC in made three-point field goals with 40 on the season…Everett (39.06), Kinzer (37.56) and Burns (35.62) make up the top three in the GLIAC in minutes per game.

The Warriors snapped their six-game conference road losing streak with a victory at Northern Michigan last Saturday behind a career-high 27 points from junior Chastidy Miller (White Lake, Mich./Waterford Kettering) … in the setback at Michigan Tech, WSU grabbed 20 offensive rebounds with junior Monique George (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) recording six offensive caroms … it was the fifth time this year that the Warriors had at least 20 offensive rebounds in a contest … WSU had double digit steal totals in both games in the U.P. and has 11 games this year with at least 10 steals … the 11 turnovers vs. NMU was the second lowest total in a game this season … junior Jasmine McCall (Detroit, Mich./CMA) leads the Warriors in steals (57), assists (58) and points (189).
