Eagles
  The Eagles split a pair of road GLIAC games …Ashland received a game-high 23 points from senior forward Elizabeth O’Brien (Mansfield, OH/IUPUI) in the win over Mercyhurst. O’Brien went 10-of-11 from the floor and scored her career-high in just 21 minutes. Also setting her career-high in points was sophomore guard Lacy Romine (Kettering, OH/Fairmont), who tallied 22 points and four steals in the win. Romine averaged 15.0 ppg. for the two-game stretch, while O’Brien notched 14.5 ppg…junior forward Betsy Morrison (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) also notched her career best in points with 24 in the last minute loss at Gannon. Morrison went 10-of-16 from the floor and added seven rebounds in the loss…junior point guard Alethea Lamberson (London, OH) totaled seven assists against Mercyhurst and 10 points, seven rebounds, and six assists against the Golden Knights…the Eagles took a 13-11 lead at Gannon with 13:07 remaining in the first half and GU didn’t lead again until the 29-second mark of the second half, when it took a 75-74 advantage, which would be the final tally.

Bulldogs
  The Bulldogs have won three straight games after beating Wayne State and Grand Valley State last week. Senior forward/center Rachel Folcik (Powers/Carney-Nadeau) continued her impressive play for Ferris State last week as she averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of league victories. The 6-1 Folcik tallied a game-high 19 points and 13 rebounds in Wednesday’s (Jan. 9) 69-61 GLIAC home win over Wayne State. She then scored a game-best 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs posted a 62-59 conference road win at archrival Grand Valley State Saturday (Jan. 12) night. FSU is presently the only GLIAC school still unbeaten in league action to date this campaign

Oilers
  The Oilers were swept by Gannon and Mercyhurst during their trip to Erie, Pennsylvania…Findlay lost 72-56 to the Golden Knights and 81-78 to the Lakers…Findlay began the game against Gannon up 19-2…In the Mercyhurst game, the lead changed hands 20 times and the contest also featured 15 ties…Junior guard Brittany Wells had 21 points against the Lakers, giving her 702 for her career…In the loss to Gannon, Wells, junior forward Ashley Westenbarger and senior center Katie Greisiger each had ten points…In the loss to Mercyhurst, sophomore guards Audra Mihalic and Michele Derr contributed 11 points apiece…Greisiger blocked a career-high six shots against the Lakers…Findlay held a halftime lead in both games…Until this weekend, the Oilers had not lost a game when holding the lead at the break.

Golden Knights
  Gannon went 2-0 last week with a home victories against Findlay (72-56) and Ashland (75-74) … the Lady Knights have won their last three home games while trailing at halftime of each game … Gannon trailed Findlay 19-2 before rallying for a 16-point victory and trailed Ashland by 12 points in the second half … Ashley Lowdermilk (Kensington, Ohio/Carrollton) scored 18 points against Findlay, falling one shy of her season-high … Allison Rothlisberger (New Martinsville, W.Va./Magnolia) posted a career-high 11 points against Findlay … Rothlisberger also made two free throws with 29 seconds left against Ashland to secure a one-point victory … Kristina Freeman (Yonkers, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists last week … Freeman tied a career-high with 24 points against Ashland … Abby Bunstine (Chillicothe, Ohio/Chillicothe) scored a season-high 17 points off the bench against Ashland.

Grand Valley State lost consecutive games for the first time since the first three games of the season, dropping a 62-59 decision to Ferris State…During the game, three different Lakers scored in double figures…Junior forward Kim Wyngaard (Kimberly, Wisc.) scored a team-high 15 points, followed by senior guards Erin Cyplik (St. Clair, Mich.) and Crystal Zick (Byron Center, Mich.), who scored 12 and 11 points, respectively…Cyplik grabbed a career-high six steals in the losing effort…Sophomore forward Nicole Carr swatted a career-high three blocks…Sophomore forward Jocelyn Ingram (Lansing, Mich.) grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.

Chargers
  The Hillsdale College women’s basketball team won its fourth straight game Thursday night vs. Lake Superior State University…The Chargers have now scored 80 or more points in three games in a row. The team has shot better than 54 percent from the field in its last three games, and has averaged 83.3 points in those games…The offensive efficiency comes from the GLIAC’s leading scorer, Katie Cezat, but also improved play from many other players…Brooke Knight set a career-high with 11 assists vs. LSSU and has averaged 10.8 points per game during the team’s four-game winning streak, the best offensive stretch of her career…Junior Claire Aubrey is another player who has improved her scoring, getting 10 or more points in four of the team’s last five games…She had one 10-plus point game in her career before the current streak…Thursday’s win was also the 415th in the career of head coach Claudette Charney.

Lakers
  Junior center Alyssa VanderWal (Allendale, Mich.) totaled a career-high 18 points and 10 rebounds at Wayne State on Saturday for her first career double double…VanderWal, who was held to two points by Hillsdale last Thursday, is ranked third in the GLIAC in field-goal percentage (.680) and leads the league in blocked shots per game (2.0)...Junior center Jackie Armstrong (Haslett, Mich.) averaged 15.0 ppg and 3.5 rpg against Hillsdale and Wayne State last week. Armstrong, who scores a team-leading 12.1 ppg, has averaged 14.7 ppg during her last nine games…The Chargers shot 54.5 percent from the field against LSSU, which was the second-highest percentage the Lakers have allowed this season and third time an opponent has shot 50 percent or better from the field…LSSU post players VanderWal, Armstrong and senior Danielle Makins (Grosse Ile, Mich.) are shooting a combined 53.6 percent from the field (177-330).

Lakers

The Lakers split a pair of GLIAC games this week, coming up with a 81-78 win over Findlay and a 76-71 loss to Ashland…Against Ashland, Amy Achesinski recorded her fifth double-double this year with 16 points and 11 rebounds…Stephanie Prischak contributed as well offensively with 18 points and two assists…Defensively, Prischak pulled down six defensive rebounds and tallied six steals….In the Findlay matchup, the game saw 20 lead changes and 15 ties…The decisive points came down to the last 29 seconds when Achesinski made a crucial block on a Findlay shotand Prischak brought down the defensive rebound. She was fouled and made both free throws for the 81-78 final…The Lakers return to action Thursday when they travel to Grand Valley State for a 6 p.m. tip-off. .

Huskies
 Michigan Tech won twice last week to run its winning streak to seven games. The Huskies put together a six-game streak earlier this season … Tech will play eight of its final 11 games at home … Senior Catherine Rottier (Seymour, Wis.) needs just nine points to reach 1,000 for her career. The 5-8 guard averages 10.7 points per game. She also ranks third in the GLIAC in assists at 5.7 … Sophomore Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) is one of just three GLIAC players averaging a double-double in points and rebounds. The 6-0 forward leads the team with 16.4 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Only one other player in school history has averaged 10.0 rebounds per contest (Sharon Walton averaged 10.6 in 1983-84) … Katie Zimmerman (Green Bay, Wis./East) notched a season high of 19 points at Saginaw Valley State. The guard came within one point of her career high of 20. She leads the team and ranks third in the GLIAC in 3-point field goals made with 33 .

Wildcats
  Last week the “Cats” went 2-1…NMU defeated Northland College in a non-conference game on Monday (92-33), then downed Saginaw Valley (47-39) before dropping an overtime game to Northwood (62-63)…Four ‘Cats ended the game against the LumberJills in double-figures as Allison Carroll led the way with 19 points…Angie Leckson tied a career-high with 11 rebounds against Northland…Carroll was NMU’s high scorer against Saginaw Valley (13) and Northwood (16)…NMU is currently 0-2 in overtime games this season. Cassie Hegbloom had a double-double against Northwood with 10 points and 12 rebounds…Carroll leads the team in points (14.7 ppg), rebounds (6.3 rpg) and blocks (15)…Deacon is the only other player averaging over 10 points a game (12.5 ppg), she also leads the ‘Cats with 46 assists…Steffani Stoeger has a team-high 28 steals…Deacon had three of NMU’s four three-pointers against the Timberwolves and leads the team with 37 three-pointers.

Timberwolves
  Northwood split a pair of close games last week, falling to Michigan Tech 65-59 before earning a come-from-behind overtime win against Northern Michigan… while Northwood went 1-1 for the week, the results of the two game could have easily been flipped … the Timberwolves led Michigan Tech by five points with less than five minutes remaining, but the Huskies came back to earn the win … NU then trailed NMU by six with less than a minute remaining, but junior guard Sarah Glowacki (Freeland, Mich.) netted six points in 44 seconds to force overtime … Northwood earned a win despite struggling from the floor for the week – the Timberwolves shot just 38.9 percent as a team (49-126) … the Timberwolves did do a good job in holding down their opponents from the 3-point line – MTU and NMU shot just 23.1 percent from beyond the arc (6-26) … Megan Starnes (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) led Northwood in scoring (15.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.0 rpg) again last week.

Cardinals
  The Cardinals went 0-2 last week, falling at home to Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech…LaTille Ross (Opelika, Ala./Alabama St.) scored a game high 23 points against Michigan Tech on 9-12 shooting…Tricia Everett (Saginaw, Mich./Swan Valley) dished out 14 assists against Tech, raising her season average to 6.93 assists per game, which leads the GLIAC…Kara Kinzer (Shelby Twp, Mich./Utica Eisenhower) went 2-4 from beyond the arc against the Huskies, keeping her league-leading average of three-pointers made per game to 2.64…Ross currently ranks fifth in the GLIAC in points per game (16.1) and ninth in rebounds per game (6.8)…Brittany Burkhardt (West Bloomfield, Mich./WalledLake Central) currently ranks tenth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game (6.7)…Brittany Burns (Saginaw, Mich./Alabama St.) and Kara Kinzer rank in the top 20 in the GLIAC in points per game with 13.5 (12th) and 13.1 (16th) respectively…Everett also ranks sixth in the GLIAC in steals per game at 2.29…Everett (38.9), Kinzer (37.2) and Burns (36.0) currently make up the top three in minutes per game in the conference.

Warriors
   Last Saturday’s win over Lake Superior snapped a three-game conference losing streak for the Warriors and a 12-game losing skein vs. the Lakers … WSU blocked a season-high seven shots including three by sophomore Lindsey West (Royal Oak, Mich./Kimball) … the Wayne State defense forced LSSU into 28 turnovers, the second-most by a WSU opponent this year … freshman Chelsea Kouri (Clarkston, Mich.) had her best conference game of the season making three of four from beyond the arc and scoring 13 points in 14 minutes … junior Chastidy Miller (White Lake, Mich./Waterford Kettering) had 10 points in the loss at Ferris State and scored a team-best 18 points in the win over LSSU for her third consecutive game in double figures… senior Nicole Rogers (Lansing, Mich./Everett) had 11 rebounds in Big Rapids to move into seventh place on the WSU all-time list surpassing Marie Doss (1984-86) … the 11 boards were one off her season-high.
