Eagles
It was a clean sweep last week for the Eagles as they posted a 3-0 mark. Junior Jessica Minch (Centerville, OH) tallied a career-high 23 points and added 9 rebounds in the win over Lake Erie College. For the week, Minch averaged 14.3 ppg., 7.3 rpg., and blocked 10 shots. Her 15 rejections this season lead the team and she has as many swats as AU’s opponents through the first five games. The Eagles won both games at the Ashland Thanksgiving Classic, with the final game of the classic being just that—a classic. After Shepherd tied the game at 88-88 with 5 seconds left, junior point guard Alethea Lamberson (London, OH) took the inbounds pass, raced down the floor, and nailed a 25-foot three-pointer with two-tenths of a second remaining to give AU a stunning 91-88 victory. Lamberson completed her day with a 20-point (career-high), 7-assist, 6-rebound, 4-steal performance and played all 40 minutes. That is the second time this season the junior has played the entire game. Junior Lisa Graue (Dayton, OH/Wayne) added a career-high 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win over Shepherd. The balanced AU attack had five players average double-figures throughout the week. Lamberson (14.7 ppg.), Minch (14.3), and Graue (11.7) led the way, while junior forward Betsy Morrison (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) averaged 10.7 ppg. and freshman guard Rachel Poorman (Zanesville, OH/Maysville) contributed 10.3 ppg.
