INDIANAPOLIS– Grand Valley State University senior Rebeccah Rapin was named the 2010 Daktronics, Inc. Division II Midwest Region Player of the Year in a vote by the region’s sports information directors.
Rapin was one of seven players on the All-Midwest Region First Team, including fellow middle hitter Danielle LaGrange of Southern Indiana. Three outside hitters made list in Ashlee Crowder of Hillsdale, Maggie McGovern of Rockhurst, and Lauren Seliga of Lewis. Rachel Ruedi, also of Lewis, was the first-team setter, while Missouri-St. Louis’ Carolyn Holstein was the libero.
A seven-player All-Midwest Region Second Team was also compiled, featuring outside hitters Kristina Kerrigan of Indianapolis, Ana Lopes of Northern Michigan, and Stacey Catalano of Grand Valley. Middle hitters Arielle Goodson of Ferris State and Katarzyna Sak of Wayne State also received a second-team nod, along with setter Cheneta Morrison and libero Lyndsay Callahan, both from Indianapolis.
Crowder was the only repeat first teamer, while UIndy was the only school with three honorees. Lopes and Catalano were the only freshmen.
