Ashland's Brittany Snider Named Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week

Freshman Brittany Snider earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division
II National Player of the Week on Tuesday (Nov. 3). Earlier in the
day, she wan named the GLIAC player of the week.
She earned the award after racking up two double-doubles during the
week's action and leading the Eagles to victories in two Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division
matches. She started out the week by smashing 16 kills and adding
20 digs and one assist in a sweep of Wayne State (Mich.), who was
receiving votes in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll at the
time of the match.
She continued her outstanding play in the Eagles' whitewashing of
Northwood, hitting at a .391 clip with 19 kills, 12 digs, two
blocks, an ace and an assist. For the week, Snider turned in a .373
hitting percentage, while averaging 5.83 kills, 5.33 digs and 6.17
points per set. This is the second time an athlete from Ashland has
earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the
Week award, with Beth Dangel last taking home the honor on Nov. 11,
2006. The Eagles are coached by Connie Surowicz.
