GVSU Earns NCAA D-II Midwest Region Volleyball Title With 3-1 Win Over SVSU

Allendale, Mich. -- Grand Valley State University defeated Saginaw Valley State University, 3-1, on Sunday evening to claim the 2008 NCAA Division II Midwest Region title. The Lakers advance to the D-II Elite Eight Championship, Dec. 4-6.
The Lakers were led by senior Lauren Reber who tallied team highs with 15 kills, 23 digs, and a .406 hitting percentage. Junior Whitney Tremain posted 12 kills while swinging at a .391 clip, and senior Danielle Alexander recorded 10 kills and a match-high five block assists. Senior setter Jamie Ashmore dished out 49 assists while chipping in 11 digs, four kills, and three block assists.
SVSU senior outside-hitter Sarah Redoute notched her 12th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs, while freshman outside-hitter Annie Buxton chipped in with nine kills. Junior setter Kait Harris dished out 24 assists.
