Three GLIAC Teams Earn Rankings in CBS College Sports Network/AVCA Division II Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll
Lexington, Ky.-- Three teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) were listed in the first CBS College Sports Network/AVCA Division II Preseason Coaches Top 25 Poll of the 2008 season.
Defending GLIAC and Great Lakes Region champion Grand Valley State University placed sixth in the poll. The Lakers finished the 2007 season with a 33-4 record, a trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight and a seventh-place ranking in the AVCA poll.
Hillsdale College was voted to the 18th position in the poll. The Chargers, who finished 16th in the final AVCA poll of 2007, claimed their second straight GLIAC South Division crown and made an appearance in the Great Lakes Regional last season while posting a 26-8 record.
Ashland University ranked 21st in the poll after finishing the 2007 campaign with a 25-6 mark and placing 20th in the final poll. The Eagles also earned a berth in the Divsision II regional tournament.
