LILBURN, Ga. - Michigan Tech maintained its
hold on the top national ranking according to the latest USA
TODAY/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Poll which was released late
yesterday. The Huskies, who were idle last week, are spending their
fourth week atop the poll since the preseason rankings were
released. Yesterday’s poll was the second since the regular
season started.
Tech is 3-0 and one of 18 teams in the top 25 with undefeated
records. Other Midwest Region teams come in at No. 8 Indianapolis,
No. 17 Quincy and No. 20 Northern Kentucky.
The USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Poll is selected by a
board of coaches made up of head coaches from 30 NCAA Division II
women’s basketball programs from around the country.
Michigan Tech will play its first home games of 2009-10 this week.
The Huskies will entertain Wayne State Thursday (Dec. 3) at 5:30
p.m. in both teams’ Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference opener. Tech hosts GLIAC South Division preseason
favorite Saturday (Dec. 5) at 1 p.m.
