Michigan Tech Women's Basketball Remains at No. 5 in USA TODAY ESPN Coaches' Poll

Women's Basketball Stays at No. 5 in National Poll

LILBURN, Ga. — The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team remained at No. 5 in this week’s USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Coaches’ Poll. The Huskies won their final two regular season games last week to run their record to 25-2 overall and 20-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Tech, which has been ranked in the nation’s top five all season, defeated Lake Superior State 84-68 last Thursday (Feb. 25) and Saginaw Valley State 85-73 last Saturday (Feb. 27).

The four teams ranked ahead of Tech in the national poll are Gannon (30-0), Franklin Pierce (25-1), Indianapolis (26-2) and Fort Lewis (28-2).

Michigan Tech is No. 1 in the latest NCAA Midwest Region Rankings ahead of No. 2 Indianapolis.

The Huskies begin their 2009-10 postseason this week by hosting Northwood tonight in a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal game at 5:30 p.m. With a win, Tech would host the GLIAC Final Four on campus Friday and Saturday (Mar. 5-6).
