Hillsdale Remains At No. 2 In NCAA D-II Women's Basketball Midwest Region Poll

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee has released this week's Division II women's basketball regional rankings. The top 10 teams in each region are listed for each of the eight regions. Selections will be Sunday, March 8. NCAA.com will stream the DII Men's and Women's Basketball Selection shows live on NCAA.com beginning at 9 p.m. EST.

Hillsdale College leads a GLIAC contingent of five teams ranked in the third poll of the season.  Michigan Technological University, Northwood University, Grand Valley State University, and Ashland University also appear in this week's rankings.

The Hillsdale College women's basketball team finished the regular season on a three-game winning streak after home wins over Tiffin and Ashland last week...The Chargers set a school record with their 24th win of the season Saturday, and head coach Claudette Charney won her 450th career game as head coach.

Michigan Tech has clinched home court advantage throughout the GLIAC Tournament. The Huskies hosted and won last year's league tournament, defeating Ashland 81-53 in the championship game. Tech is the only women's team in the GLIAC which has qualified for every GLIAC Tournament since its inception in 1990. The Huskies will be making their 19th appearance and own a 23-15 all-time record in the tournament.

Northwood went 2-0 last week, earning home wins over Ferris State and Grand Valley State...the Timberwolves have won a school-record 21 games, breaking the old mark of 20 set in the 1988-89 and 1989-90 seasons.

GVSU closed the regular season with a 1-1 record and are the #4 seed in the GLIAC Tournament. The Lakers host Ashland on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. Grand Valley State has won both meetings with the Eagles, winning 72-63 at Ashland on Dec. 6 and a come-from-behind 79-75 home victory on Jan. 15 in the rematch...freshman point guard Jasmine Padin led the Lakers last week by scoring 20.5 points per game and added 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest. She made 10-of-17 three-pointers in the two games and knocked down six triples against Northwood on Saturday, tying her career-high of 27 points.

The Eagles finished the regular season with a 17-10 record overall and a 13-9 record in the GLIAC. Last week, the Eagles beat Findlay, 76-58, and lost to Hillsdale, 81-55. Senior center Lynsey Warren played well in both games. Against the Oilers, she scored 16 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had two assists and two blocks. In the game against the Chargers, she scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds, had two assists and two blocks.
