Four GLIAC Teams Earn Berths in D-II Women's Basketball Midwest Region Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee has announced that four teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) have earned berths into the D-II Midwest Region tournament hosted by Northern Kentucky University.

Hillsdale College (27-3), winner of the 2009 GLIAC women's basketball championship earned the highest seed of the four GLIAC teams, earning the No. 2 seed.  The Chargers will face the No. 7 seed, the University of Indianapolis (22-9) in the opening round.

Michigan Technological University (24-6) earned the region's No. 4 seed.  The Huskies, who fell to Hillsdale in the GLIAC Championship game on Saturday, will face GLIAC foe Northwood University (21-7) in the regional quarterfinals.  The Timberwolves finished second in the league's south division during the regular season.

Grand Valley State University (21-9) earned an at-large bid to the tournament with the No. 8 seed.  The Lakers, who were defeated by Hillsdale in the semifinals of the GLIAC tournament, will face the No. 1 seed and tournament host Northern Kentucky University (28-2).  The Norse are the reigning NCAA Division II champions.

Game 1. Quincy (26-4) vs. Drury (19-9), 12 noon
Game 2. Hillsdale (27-3) vs. Indianapolis (22-9), 2:30 p.m.
Game 3: Northern Kentucky (28-2) vs. Grand Valley State (20-9), 6:00 p.m.
Game 4: Michigan Tech (24-6) vs. Northwood (21-7), 8:30 p.m.

Regional Semifinals • Saturday, March 14
Semifinal 1: Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 6:00 p.m.
Semifinal 2: Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 8:30 p.m.

Regional Championship • Monday, March 16
Semifinal 1 winner vs. Semifinal 2 winner, 7:00 p.m.
