Hillsdale's Katie Cezat Named Daktronics D-II Midwest Region Women's Basketball "Player of the Year"

EVANSVILLE, Ind.-Hillsdale College's Katie Cezat (Plymouth, Michigan) has been named the Daktronics, Inc. Midwest Region Player of the Year for women's basketball in a vote by the region's sports information directors.
Cezat, the GLIAC Player of the Year, led the No. 3 Chargers to their second GLIAC title in school history and the number two seed in this weekend's NCAA II Midwest Region Tournament. She ranks second in the nation with 29.1 points per game and leads the country with 16.8 rebounds per appearance.
Joining Cezat on the All-Midwest Region first team is Quincy University's Jessica Keller (Belle, Missouri), Northern Kentucky University's Jessie Slack (Mt. Perry, Ohio), Michigan Tech University's Katie Wysocky (Whitefish Bay, WI), and Bellarmine University's Taylor Kopple (Louisville, Kentucky).
Keller, the GLVC Player of the Year, led No. 9 Quincy to the number one overall seed in the GLVC Tournament and the number three seed in the Midwest Region Tournament. She is currently averaging 20.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and leads the GLVC in scoring.
Slack leads the nation's top-ranked team with 17.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She was the GLVC Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after leading Northern Kentucky to the GLVC Tournament crown and the region's top seed.
Wysocky led the No. 22 Huskies to the top overall seed and to the finals of GLIAC Tournament by averaging 14.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Michigan Tech enters the NCAA II Midwest Region Tournament as the number four seed.
Kopple enjoyed a stellar senior season for the Knights of Bellarmine, averaging 17.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per outing. She completed the year ranked fifth in the GLVC in scoring and fourth in rebounding to lead the Knights to a 16-12 overall record.
The Daktronics, Inc. All-Midwest Region second team is comprised of Lake Superior State University's Jaclyn Armstrong (Haslett, Michigan), Lewis University's Jenny Turpel (Johnsburg, Illinois), the University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Amanda Gibson (Boulder Junction, Wisconsin), Michigan Tech's Sarah Stream (Ishpeming, Michigan), and the University of Indianapolis's Samantha Meissel (Terre Haute, Indiana).
The NCAA II Midwest Region Tournament begins Friday at Northern Kentucky's Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
