Michigan Tech and Hillsdale Earn Rankings D-II Bulletin Women's Basketball Preseason Poll

BEAVERTON, Ore. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has two representatives in the 2008  Women's Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25 rankings. Michigan Technolgical University is ranked seventh, while Hillsdale College is listed at No. 15 in the poll.

Michigan Tech turned in one of the finest seasons in school history in 2007-08.  The Huskies posted 23 wins - the most by a Tech team since 2000-01. They also won their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Championship since 2001 and first GLIAC Tournament title since 2000.

Sophomore Katie Wysocky led the team in both points (16.1 per game) and rebounds (9.7 per game). She produced the first 300-rebound season in school history and just the third 500-point campaign. Fellow sophomores Danae Danen (11.1 points per game) and Katie Zimmerman (10.5) finished second and third on the team in scoring as freshmen and sophomores accounted for more than 75 percent of the team's scoring. Senior Catherine Rottier closed out her stellar career with a school record 439 career assists and 1,104 career points.

 The 2007-08 Hillsdale College women's basketball team will go down as the best in the program's history. The Chargers won the GLIAC South Division while going 23-5 overall, the best record in school history. Hillsdale finished 15-2 in the GLIAC, also the best conference record in school history.

Forward Katie Cezat turned in an amazing season, shattering 10 school records while being named First-Team All-American. She led all Division II players in scoring average (24.0) and finished in second place in the Daktronics Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year voting. Four starters return for the Chargers, and 10 out of 11 letterwinners from last year's team are back, including All-Defensive player Claire Aubrey and returning starters Brooke Knight and Janay Miller.
