Grand Valley State’s Martin Named 2011 Daktronics D-II Softball National "Player of the Year"
ROLLA, Mo. - Grand Valley State University sophomore designated player Katie Martin (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) has been named the 2011 Ron Lenz national “Player of the Year” on the team selected by sports information directors at NCAA Division II level. A total of six Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) softball players earned recognition on the Daktronics All-America teams.

Along with Martin being named as a First Team Daktronics All-America preformer, Wayne State University junior outfielder Alison Allen (Redford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy) earned Second Team Daktronics All-America honors.
Saginaw Valley State University senior pitcher Jade Fultson (Bryon, Mich.) was chosen as an Honorable Mention Daktronics All-American. Fulton is joined by a tiro of Grand Valley State players, junior catcher Carli Raisutis (Palos Heights, Ill./Amos Alonzo Stagg), sophomore shortstop Briauna Taylor (Livonia, Mich./Franklin), and sophomore outfielder Brittany Taylor (Livonia, Mich./Franklin), who also earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
The teams are sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
