Angelo Takes Top Spot in NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll For Third Straight Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Angelo State Rambelles garnered all but one first-place vote to remain the No. 1 team in the nation for the third straight week, according to the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 poll released by the Association on Wednesday.
Angelo State (20-1) picked up 15 of the 16 first place votes on the week and finished 31 points ahead of No. 2 Valdosta St. (10-2). Meanwhile, Valdosta went 3-1 last week at North Georgia’s Captain D’s Classic, to move up to second and pick up the remaining first-place vote.
Alabama-Huntsville (14-1-1) moved one spot this week to third and will meet Valdosta in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday. North Georgia (22-6) dropped two spots from second to fourth, while Midwestern State (24-24) jumped five spots from ninth to fifth to round out the top five.
No. 16 Lock Haven (11-3), No. 21 Flagler (24-6) and No. 25 Saginaw Valley (9-6) all made their exits from the rankings this week and were replaced by West Virginia Wesleyan (17-3), Armstrong Atlantic (18-4) and Indiana (PA) at 15th, 24th and 25th, respectively.
The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions. Records as of Mar. 13, 2011 are shown, first-place votes are in parentheses.
