GLIAC Has Six Teams Earn All-Academic Cross Country Team Status
NEW ORLEANS - Six Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's cross country teams were awarded with 2010 Division II All-Academic Cross Country Team status by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The six schools in alphabetical order are:
Ashland University with a team cumulative GPA of 3.25
Ferris State University with a team cumulative GPA of 3.12
The University of Findlay with a team cumulative GPA of 3.55
Hillsdale College with a team cumulative GPA of 3.09
Lake Superior State University with a team cumulative GPA of 3.06
Northwood University with a team cumulative GPA of 3.21
A total of 68 institutions represent 19 conferences with the GLIAC having the second most schools given the 2010 Division II All-Academic Cross Country team status. Six of the top ten finishing teams at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 24 teams that participated in the national final, 12 of those earned All-Academic status. In addition, six of eight NCAA regional championship teams earned All-Academic honors.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
