TU's Thomas and GVSU's Ambromavicius Named GLIAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field "Athletes of the Week", Respectively

Bay City, Mich. -- Tiffin's Anthony Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio) and Grand Valley State's Aleksas Ambromavicius (Kursenai, Lithuania) have been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field "Athletes of the Week", respectively as announced by the league office.

Track Athlete of the Week
Anthony Thomas ~ Tiffin University
Junior ~ Cleveland, Ohio
Junior Anthony Thomas shattered two school records as
Tiffin University’s men’s track squad won the Don Frail
Invite hosted by Marietta College. Thomas broke school records in
the open 100 and 200. Thomas won the 100 in a time of 10.74 and
finished second in the 200 in 21.82, just missing provisional times
in the Dragon’s first outdoor race of the season.
Collectively, the team broke six school records during the course
of the invite.
Field Athlete of the Week
Aleksas Abromavicius ~ Grand Valley State University
Sophomore ~ Kursenai, Lithuania
Sophomore Aleksas Abromavicius took first place in two
events at the Spartan Invitational.Abromavicius automatically
qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships
in the discus and hit a provisional mark in the shot put. The
sophomore’s throw of 52-8.25 in the shot put was almost a
foot farther than second place, while he dominated the field in the
discus with a 188-5 throw that was more than 16 feet above the
closest competitor.
