NU's Fulton and HCs Faulk Chosen As GLIAC Men's Indoor Track and Field "Athletes of the Week," Respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Northwood University senior Will Fulton (Inkster, Mich.) and Hillsdale College senior Aaron Faulk (Placerville, Calif.) were named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) men's indoor track and field "Athletes of the Week," respectively.
GLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week:
Will Fulton - Northwood
Senior, Sprints
Inkster, Mich.
Will Fulton posted the second fastest time in the nation in the 60 meter dash at the Jack Skoog Open at Central Michigan Friday night. His time of 6.76 was good for the victory in the event over 33 competitors. Fulton’s time also matches his own school record, which he set last season.

Aaron Faulk - Hillsdale
Senior, Throws
Placerville, Calif.
Hillsdale College senior Aaron Falk won the weight throw event at last Friday’s Grand Rapids Open with a toss of 20.7 meters. Falk, already an NCAA qualifier in that event, has ranked in the top three in the nation all season in the weight throw event.

Ashland Eagles
The AU men’s track team competed at the Kent State Tune-up this past Saturday (Feb. 20). Matt Stratman was second in the 1000 meters (2:31.06) and the 4X4 relay was the runnerup in 3:16.10. Joe Horn received the bronze medal in the 400 meters (48.59) and Wesley Washington was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (40.32). Nate Cooper was fourth in the high jump (1.99m). In the weight throw, Mike Jeffery was third (19.82) and Ryan Loughney was fourth (19.40m). The Eagles compete this weekend at the GLIAC Championships at Grand Valley State.
Ferris State Bulldogs
The Ferris State University men’s track and field team took part in its final tuneup for the GLIAC Indoor Championships by competing in the annual Jack Skoog Open hosted by Central Michigan University on Friday (Feb. 19). FSU’s Justin Price won the men’s 400 meters (50.90) and was also third overall in the 200 meters (23.21). Meanwhile, senior Mike Mangieri emerged victorious among a field of 32 runners in the 3,000 meters (8:42.14). Senior Greg Burns came in second overall in the pole vault (15-7) and Dan Volk took fifth place in the 800 meters (2:03.44). J.J. Vandenburg placed eighth overall in both the weight throw (49-3) and shot put (43-7.75) while Derrick Bartlett finished eighth in the 800 meters (2:05.75). Ferris also took fourth place in the men’s 4x400-meter relay (3:35.46) with a second relay quartet placing seventh (3:46.86) in the same event.
Findlay Oilers
The Oilers recently wrapped up the Kent State Tune-Up and were led by Curtis Smithey who had an outstanding day as he finished first in the 300-meter dash in school record breaking fashion with a time of 34.09 while also taking second in the 200-meter dash at 21.83, a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Shane Schockey added a first place finish in the pole vault with a school record breaking and provisional qualifying mark of 16’00.75 while Cory Vales placed second in the high jump with a school record breaking and NCAA provisional qualifying leap of 6’10.25. Derrick Vicars captured the silver in the shot put with a school record breaking and NCAA automatic qualifying heave of 57’03.50 and also recorded a provisional mark of 58’11.25 in the weight throw. Simon Bernard finished third in the 800-meter run with a provisional qualifying time of 1:54.14 while Lyndon Johnson took fourth in the 200-meter dash at 21.95 and teamed with Shawnathan Fort, Corey Clarke and Erik Birkholz to place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:18.99.
Grand Valley State Lakers
The Laker men hosted the GR Championships on Friday (Feb. 19), in the Laker Turf Building. GVSU had six first-place finishes and a school record broken at the meet. Donny Stiffler (Webberville, Mich.) automatically qualified for nationals in the shot put. His throw of 57’6.25" placed him first and set a new school record. Nate Miller (Trenton, Mich.) placed first in the high jump with a jump of 6’6.75", while Ryan Rademacher (Grand Rapids, Mich.) also took home first in the long jump (22’6.25). Matt Gordeneer (Vermontville, Mich.) hit the provisional mark for the first time this season in the pole vault, He finished second with a jump of 15’9.25". In the running events, Jovon Faulk (West Bloomfield, Mich.) finished first in the 60-meter dash (6.98) followed by Xavier Parnell (Detroit, Mich.) in second (7.04). The Lakers also got a first place finish from Ryan Brown (Fenton, Mich.) in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.40 seconds. In the mile, Jon Manby (East Kentwood, Mich.) crossed the finish line first with a time of 4:15.63, while Jeremiah Pavlak (Hopkins, Mich.) placed third in the 400-meter dash (51.05).
Hillsdale Chargers
Hillsdale participated in the Grand Rapids Open this past weekend. Senior sprinter Jared Krout is rounding into his All-American form, as shown by his two first-places and one second-place at the meet.. He also took first place in the 400 meter run with a time of 48.8 seconds, and was second to teammate Skylar Dooley in the 200 by .01 seconds. Dooley won the photo finish in 21.89 seconds. Senior weight thrower Aaron Falk took first place in his event with a toss of 20.7 meters. Teammate Jason Stomps wasn’t far behind with a mark of 20.48 meters, as they continued to stake their claim as the best pair of throwers on any team in the country. Jerry Perkins (800) and Derek Top (mile run) also turned in first places for the nationally ranked Chargers men’s team.
Lake Superior State Lakers
Senior Paul Davis (St. Ignace, Mich.) won the men’s 200-meter dash, and junior Jonathon Allen (Atlanta, Ga.) placed first in the triple jump Friday at the Jack Skoog Open hosted by Central Michigan University. Davis won the 200 in :22.73, while Allen jumped 14.55 meters. Junior Patrick Wright (Luzerne, Mich.), freshman Sean Brandon Jr. (Flint, Mich.), junior Ben Monroe (Webberville, Mich.) and Davis placed third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:32.94. Junior John Preczewski (Roscommon, Mich.) was also third in the high jump (1.90 meters), and Wright was third in the triple jump (13.31 meters) and fourth in the long jump (6.30 meters).
Northwood Timberwolves
Northwood registered three NCAA qualifying marks. Will Fulton (Inkster, Mich.) earned the win in the 60 meters with a qualifying mark of 6.76. Craig Borsenik (Durand, Mich./Corunna) earned the win in the weight throw, tossing 58-4.5. That mark betters his previous qualifying mark (57-11.75). Marcus Bennett (Redford, Mich./Thurston) finished third in the 60 meter hurdles (8.37). His time of 8.24 in the preliminaries was a NCAA provisional qualifier as well.
Saginaw Valley State Cardinals
The Cardinals traveled to Central Michigan University Friday (Feb. 19) to compete in the Jack Skoog Open. Junior transfer Marion Body earned a first place finish in the 800-meter run, followed closely by freshman Tony Rasch, who placed second. Body timed-in at 1:55.94 and Rasch at 1:56.77. Placing second in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash was junior Scott Chevalier, crossing the line at 6.93 and 22.79, respectively. Earning second and third place finishes in the 3,000-meter run were sophomore Jon Wetters and freshman Tyler Noble, with Wetters clocking in at 8:52.57 and Noble finishing at 8:56.30. The 4x400-meter relay team, consisting of junior Marion Body, sophomore Josh Arnold, and freshmen Tyler Grob and Tony Rasch would end the meet on a good note for the Cardinals, placing second with a final time of 3:28.90.
Tiffin Dragons
Numerous school records fell at the Kent State Tune-up, with the 4x400 team posting the Dragons lone win on the day with a school record time of 3:14.93. Anthony Thomas set a new school record in the 60 hurdles, taking second in 6.87. Antoine Allen placed high in two events, taking 3rd in the long jump with 23-2.5 and 4th in the triple jump in 44-2.75. Jordan Selfe (2nd in 300 in 36.15), Ramone Brant (3rd in 60 hurdles in 8.13), Andrew Moore (5th in 300 hurdles in 40.46), Travis LeFlore (3rd in high jump with 6-6.25), and Lee Miller (2nd in pole vault with 15-7) also performed well.
