Tournament Format

The GLIAC Men’s Tennis Tournament will be an eight-team, three-round tournament.

The first round of the tournament will start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (Apr. 17), with warm-up on courts beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The second round of the tournament will be played on Saturday afternoon, allowing each team at least a one-hour break.  This one-hour break includes the 30-minute warm-up session required by ITA Rules. Once the starting time of the match arrives, the teams will have a five-minute warm-up period. (per ITA rules)

The final round of the tournament will start at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday (Apr. 18), with warm-up on courts beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Tournament Draw

The top eight teams based on regular season conference winning percentage will compete in the tournament. 1 vs. 8 and 4 vs. 5 in top of draw. 3 vs. 6 and 2 vs. 7 on bottom of draw.

Tournament Athletic Training Staff

SVSU's Chris Camburn cjcambur@svsu.edu (989-780-4139) and Jeremy Glaser jglaser@svsu.edu (989-280-4654) will serve as our Certified Athletic Trainers and will be available at MCTC throughout the tournament.  The trainers will be at the facilities by 8:30 a.m. each day.

Modalities will not be available.  Ice will be available. Coaches should bring enough athletic tape as necessary to tape their own student-athletes throughout the tournament.

Awards Ceremony

There will be a short awards ceremony at the Midland Community Tennis Center following the completion of the last match on Sunday.

GLIAC and GLIAC Tournament Championship trophies will be awarded and the 2010 All-GLIAC Men’s Tennis Teams will be announced.

Tournament Tennis Balls

The GLIAC Office will be providing four cases of Wilson U.S. Open tennis balls.
