BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University junior Catherine Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) and Grand Valley State University junior Aaron Beebe (Grand Haven, Mich.) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Catherine Leix accumulated nearly 15 percent of Wayne State's points in a 152.5-147.5 dual meet victory Saturday at Grand Valley State. Leix won the 500 (5:09.20) and 1000 (10:35.25) freestyle events, and placed fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:18.98). She also anchored the fourth-place 200 freestyle relay (1:43.53).

Grand Valley State junior Aaron Beebe won three individual events and swam the fly leg of the Lakers' winning 200 medley relay team as GVSU claimed a 173.5-126.5 victory over Wayne State Saturday (Jan. 8). In addition, Beebe notched three NCAA DII "B" cuts and set a GVSU pool record record. Beebe hit the "B" cut and set the GVSU pool record in the 100 fly (50.55), while also hitting the NCAA "B" standard in the 200 fly (1:51.47) and the 1000 free (9:34.53). Beebe was a part of GVSU's winning 200 medley relay team that touched the wall in 1:34.96.
