GLIAC Men's Soccer Players Named to Daktronics All-Region Team

Four Gannon University men's soccer players and one University of Findlay soccer player were named to the 2007 Daktronics all-Great Lakes Region Men's Soccer Team.

Matt Cuthbert of Gannon was the only GLIAC player to be named to the All-Region First Team, while the Golden Knights also landed Gareth Kolkenbeck-Ruh, Dan Howell, and Jonathan Whiley on the second team.

Findlay was the only other GLIAC school represented on the team, with their sophomore midfielder B.J. Goodwin earning second team honors.

Cuthbert started every match during his two-year career at Gannon.  The senior defender leads a Gannon defense that topped the GLIAC in goals allowed (21), goals against average (1.08), and shutouts (5).

Kolkenbeck-Ruh was named GLIAC Defender of the Year and earned a spot on the All-GLIAC first team.  He has recorded 10 goals, 4 assists, and 24 points during his career.

Howell leads Gannon in goals (11), assists (12), and points (34).  The redshirt sophomore leads the GLIAC and ranks fifth nationally in assists per match (0.63).  He ranks second among GLIAC players in points per match (1.79) and third in goals (11).

Whiley, a sophomore defender, has started 18 matches while being part of a Gannon defense that tops the GLIAC in goals allowed, goals against average, and shutouts.

Goodwin earned a spot on this team along with being tabbed the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection.  On the season, Goodwin recorded a team-high 23 points.  He also scored a team-high eight goals to go along with a team-high five assists.
