GLIAC Golf Teams Ranked in Golf World Magazine Division II Preseaon Poll

GOLF WORLD MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES 2009-10 COLLEGE PREVIEW ISSUE

Georgia College Men & Nova Southeastern Women Capture No.1 Spots in Division II Preseason Coaches’ Polls

NEW YORK, NY—Golf World has published the results of its latest preseason College Coaches’ Polls and its list of the Top 50 male and female “Players to Watch.” The content, which is part of Golf World’s annual College Preview issue, will be featured in the September 7 issue of the magazine and can be viewed online at www.golfworld.com.

On the men’s side, Georgia College stands atop the Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Preseason Coaches’ Poll, earning five of the 18 first-place votes. The Bobcats finished fifth at the NCAA Championship last year and have two All-Americans returning in Niclas Johansson and Pedro C. Lima. Their first fall tournament is this weekend’s Kiawah Island Invitational.

Rounding out the top-five are Barry (No. 2), Columbus State (No. 3), Lynn (No. 4) and Sonoma State (No. 5).

On the women’s side, Nova Southeastern is the number one team in the Golf World/NGCA Division II Preseason Coaches’ Poll, earning 10 of the 12-first-place votes. The defending champion Sharks return three-time All-American Maria Garcia-Austt and three other starters from last year’s squad.

Rollins (No. 2), Grand Valley State (No. 3), Florida Southern (No. 4) and Tarleton State (No. 5) round out the top-five.
