GLIAC Boasts Four Teams In The NABC Division II Top 25 Poll For The Second Week In A Row

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The top three spots remain unchanged this week in the new NABC/Division II men’s basketball rankings, with nine of the top 10 teams from last week remaining ranked among the top 10 in the nation heading into the final week of January.

West Liberty recorded two impressive wins last week and Bellarmine followed up a narrow win at Indianapolis with a victory over Northern Kentucky to hold onto the top two spots.  Augusta State also won twice last week to stay at No. 3, while Cal State-Dominguez Hills and Findlay each moved up a spot after last week’s fourth-ranked team, Southern Indiana, suffered a loss to Indianapolis.

Alabama-Huntsville and Fort Hays State also moved up a spot in the rankings this week with their wins, while Lincoln Memorial jumped two places to No. 8 as it won over Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne to retain its perfect record.  Southern Indiana dropped to No. 9 as the result of its loss and Central Oklahoma replaces Lone Star Conference mate Incarnate Word in the top 10 in the tenth spot.

Missouri Southern checks in at No. 11 this week, followed by Minnesota State, Incarnate Word, Central Washington and Grand Valley State.  The next five teams in the rankings are led by Tampa, who lost for the first time last week and bounced back with an overtime win at Nova Southeastern Saturday.  The Spartans are followed by Hillsdale, Georgia Southwestern, Harding and West Texas A&M.

The final five teams in this week’s poll belong to Wayne State (Mich.), Humboldt State, Arkansas Tech, Kentucky Wesleyan and the only team making its first appearance in the poll this season, Saint Anselm.

The NCAA will release its first regional rankings of the 2010-11 season on Wednesday, Jan. 26.
