Two GLIAC Student-Athletes Named to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team

BAY CITY, Mich. - The 2010-11 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District Teams for men's basketball were announced by the Academic All-America® Committee.  Two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) student-athletes earned Academic All-District honors. The GLIAC student-athletes earning this award are Mike Hojnacki (Milwaukee, Wis./New Berlin Eisenhower) of Michigan Technological University, and Ian Larkin (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) of Wayne State University.

Hojnacki was named the Academic All-District IV College Division First Team. He currently leads Tech in scoring at 15.9 points per game and has scored 20-plus points in a game seven times this season. The 6-7 forward ranks sixth in the GLIAC in scoring and is also among the league leaders in rebounding (5.5), field goal percentage (51.9), 3-point percentage (42.7) and free throw percentage (79.7). Hojnacki, a junior in mechanical engineering, owns a 3.65 cumulative grade point average.

Larkin has been voted to the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District College Division Third Team. Larkin carries a 3.73 cumulative grade-point average in management and was one of only three Division II student-athletes named to the District 4 College Division teams. He becomes the first WSU men's basketball player to earn academic all-district honors since Kris Krzyminski earned first team accolades during the 2006-07 campaign.

The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District ® Men’s Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom.
