Findlay On Top of First NCAA D-II Men's Basketball Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee has released this week's Division II men's basketball regional rankings. The top 10 teams in the Midwest region are listed below. The regional rankings will be released weekly on Wednesdays through March 4, 2009.

The University of Findlay, Grand Valley State University, and Hillsdale College are the GLIAC's representatives in this week's poll.

The top ranked Oilers are now 16-0 on the season after earning a pair of road wins in the GLIAC last week, defeating Tiffin University, 106-65, and Ashland University, 84-65. Findlay's 16-0 record to start the season is the best mark in school history. The previous best of 14-0 was accomplished at the beginning of the 2001-02 campaign.

GVSU, ranked sixth in the poll, improved to 11-4 this season by picking up wins over Northwood University (66-46) and Wayne State University (58-55) two sweep a four-game home stand.  The Lakers have compiled a home record of 11-1 this season, including a current five-game home winning streak.

The Chargers, ranked ninth, have now won three straight games overall and are 6-6 in the GLIAC, tied for second place in the South Division.  Hillsdale picked up wins over Ashland (66-62) and Tiffin (91-49) last week.
