Findlay's Clay Belton Named GLIAC Football "Offensive Player of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. - University of Findlay senior quarterback Clay Belton (Dayton, Ohio/Northmont) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" after leading the Oilers to a 29-27 victory at #10 Saginaw Valley State University last Saturday.  Ohio Dominican University freshman defensive back Billy Eakins (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) earned "Defensive Player of the Week Honors," while University of Findlay junior wide receiver/place kicker/punter Seth White (Bexley, Ohio) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."
















GLIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week:
Clay Belton - Findlay (SR, QB, 6-6, 230, Dayton, Ohio/Northmont)

University of Findlay senior quarterback Clay Belton led the Oilers to a 29-27 win at #10 Saginaw Valley State on Saturday by completing a school record 32-of-42 passes for 335 yards and two scores.  His yardage total was also the second best mark in Findlay football history.  On the season, Belton has thrown for an average of 311.5 yards per game and has four touchdowns and no interceptions.  He is also completing 69.8 percent of his passing attempts.

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
Billy Eakins - Ohio Dominican (FR, DB, 5-11, 180, Pickerington, Ohio/Central)

Ohio Dominican University freshman DB Billy Eakins made first career start on Saturday and was solely responsible for three takeaways in ODU's 47-7 win over Northern Michigan. He recorded two interceptions while forcing and recovering a fumble on a sack. All three takeaways occurred inside ODU territory, with one interception in the end zone and the other at the 15 yard line, to stop NMU scoring opportunities. Eakins also registered seven tackles (four solo) in the game.

GLIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week:
Seth White - Findlay (JR, WR/PK/P, 5-10, 195, Bexley, Ohio)

University of Findlay junior Seth White did a little bit of everything in the Oilers 29-27 win at #10 Saginaw Valley State on Saturday including kicking the game-winning field goal from 25 yards out with only ten seconds remaining in the game.  White also kicked two extra points and had one punt for 19 yards.  He also made seven receptions for 103 yards and a score on offense.
