BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University junior wideout Jeff Janis (Tawas, Mich.) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) "Offensive Player of the Week" for leading the Cardinals to a 28-24 victory over then-No. 8 Valdosta State University (Ga.) in the team's season opener last Saturday. Ohio Dominican University senior defensive back Eisen Hardy (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) earned "Defensive Player of the Week" honors, while Grand Valley State University junior defensive back/punt returner Reggie Williams (Lansin/Mich./Everett) was tabbed "Special Teams Player of the Week."

Jeff Janis - Saginaw Valley State (JR, WR, 6-3, 205, Tawas, Mich.)
Junior wideout Jeff Janis hauled in 14 catches for a game high 167 yards and three scores to help lead the Cardinals to a 28-24 upset win over then No. 8 Valdosta State. Janis scored his first TD of the game early in the second quarter on two-yard slant. His second touchdown was a 22-yard over the shoulder catch in the corner of the endzone. His third and final TD game came on a slant from 24-yards out. His biggest catch of the game came late in the fourth quarter with the Cardinals facing a 4th and 9, he was able to get open for a 19-yard completion that set the stage for the Cardinals winning touchdown.

GLIAC Football Defensive Player of the Week:
Eisen Hardy - Ohio Dominican (SR, DB, 5-10, 180, Pickerington, Ohio/Central)
Senior defensive back Eisen Hardy led the Ohio Dominican University defense in the Panthers' 57-6 win over the University of Virginia, College at Lynchburg on Saturday. Hardy posted five tackles (four solo), an interception, and returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown. He returned the interception 51 yards, while the blocked kick was returned 55 yards for the score. Hardy was the leader of the Panther defense that limited UVL to 86 yards of total offense (1.7 yards per play) and had one of the four ODU interceptions on the afternoon.

Reggie Williams - Grand Valley State (JR, DB/PR, 5-9, 178, Lansing, Mich./Everett)
Grand Valley State junior punt returner Reggie Williams (Lansing, Mich./Everett) tallied a school-record 90-yard punt return for a touchdown at Western Oregon in the Lakers' 48-20 win. Williams' punt return came in the first quarter with the game tied 7-7. Defensively, Williams tallied three tackles from his cornerback position as the Laker defense limited Western Oregon to just 62 yards in the second half.
